Gallardo Twin Turbo
Discussion
I love that, but if you look at my sig photo you'll see why, I like a bit of turbocharging!
I've (briefly) driven a standard Gallardo and it was fantastic, that thing must be amazing!
..... But I do wonder how fragile it might be, that'll be a LOT of extra stress put on a lot of parts of the car...?
I bet the performance figures make interesting reading!

Looks can be deceptive, shiny things are shiny though and that's what's important...
If you want one, remember it is very shiny and shiny is good, yeh? ... now give me all your money to do the same with your car, shiny, shiny, shiny, shiny...
My p-o-v's kind of simple - I really hate the chromed and polished mess o' tubes they've made of this car; why screw around so badly with something for no good reason? Betcha it's not appreciably faster than a standard Gallardo in 99% of road situations...
Justin - a quick off-topic question for you which will fetch a few 'wot?' comments from the PistonHeads massive for its leftfield nature: what's your sister-in-law-to-be's name?

Have a look at the Underground Racing car in the link I posted - there's only one view a standard Gallardo would be seeing of that on even the shortest straight.Edited by Trommel on Saturday 1st August 13:32

Those are numbers you cant argue with, would make a Veyron seem slow. But I would love to see what they do to the rest of the drivetrain to allow it to put up with those power levels.... fek, they've made more than one of them ...
Noticing the very straight nature of the drag track and the clutch-shredding launch style of the driving.
How's about a little side bet on the ability of those cars to actually outcorner a standard Gallardo or how much faster they would have to be once in a straight line to catch the Superleggera that left them wallowing about in a lurching spasm of shininess just a few seconds before.
Automobili Lamborghini abandoned the idea of using turbocharging on their cars in the mid-1980s when the more natural quattrovalvole system was created for the Countach QV. Any aftermarket turbocharged Countachs usually look a bloody mess as well or else are all burnt-out and broken.
In 2001, amongst the hundreds of Lamborghinis in attendance, there was a pinkish/blueish coloured Diablo at the launch celebrations of the Murciélago. That Diablo had just the one big ugly slab of a turbo and what looked like a flaming big nitrous tank where a passengers feet might have been and all the attendant switchgear and firefighting equipment that could be 'needed'.
Again, why mess around like this especially if 'your' world includes corners tighter than a slight kink?
... although, I really wish I'd never made any comment at all as people do seem to like those shiny, shiny things in life and they always will; 'taste' is a very subjective thing and we can't all have it!

I'd say that was a pretty soft launch for the time it did. How's about a little side bet on the ability of those cars to actually outcorner a standard Gallardo or how much faster they would have to be once in a straight line to catch the Superleggera that left them wallowing about in a lurching spasm of shininess just a few seconds before.

How could it handle any differently if the set-up was as standard? 30kg of turbos and pipework is hardly going to make a huge difference.
I don't like the shiny stuff either, but pretending the handling will be ruined simply because it's more powerful seems a little strange.
