I'm looking into buying a 360 spider and I've been offered a 2001 360 spider, Rosso Corsa with crema 28k and a Full Ferrari Service history.

I've been offered it for £50k, does this sound like a good enough deal? Obviously I'd have the car checked out, but what does everyone think?

Looking at whats around it seems a little pricey, do your research, see some other cars and if you then think it's a good deal get it inspected.

Good luck!

£50K for a 2001 is not cheap if that is what you are asking.

A good price would be around £45K if in good condition.

I've been looking about and I can't find a rosso 360 spider fro less than £50k. The only one I've found are either scams or very high mileage ones.

This ones £50k http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/cars_popup.js...

and This ones £53k and they are the closes ones I can find

If you could point me in the directions of these less than £50k spiders it would be appreciated.

I should probably mention I'm looking for a manual.

Thanks.

I'd be surprised if these cars are actually selling for their asking prices. I realise the deisirability of rosso/corsa makes people believe they're worth more but that's opinion.

There is a black/tan up for £45k with similar miles that I would suggest is just as desirable. Don't let on that you're desperate for a certain colour combo and use it as a bargaining tool. Say you're not prepared to pay 5k more for the colour?!

Or try negotiating better examples at £55k ish down to £50k? E.g. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1177895.htm

Is the original offer private or dealer? Not bad if dealer, for some reason I assumed it was private.

It was a friend of a friend who had it up for £53, but offered it to me for £50.

You may be right in some cases but it is a bit of a generalisation. I bought my rosso/crema 360 Spider in April and I would hope that I came across as a fairly genuine and motivated cash buyer when I was narrowing down my search to specific cars. There was usually some room for negotiation but not the amount that you might have initially hoped for, and certainly not the amount that brought a 'good' car into the price bracket of a 'cheap' car.

This is especially when you get to the slightly intangible bits of detail between various cars like number of owners, desireable options like original shields vs resin ones, full main dealer SH vs assorted SH, caliper colour, split rims vs standard alloys, standard vs daytona vs sports seats, standard vs sports exhaust, belts done vs belts needing done etc. Essentially all the little bits that you look into in more detail when it gets right down to the decision making time rather than the more broad brush view that folk take when just having a general browse through the classifieds.

For what it's worth I think the price is there or there abouts depending on how much of the little important boxes are ticked for the buyer.

I suspect he'd take less. I'd be surprised if he's been offered much more than £40k in the trade so £50k seems a little optimistic. If you like the car offer him a few k under 50?

I looked for a 360 about 6 months ago (around this budget) funny thing almost all the cars I looked at then are still for sale now!.
I'm not reading to much into this but it would seem that they are quite difficult to shift.

Agree completely regards the generalisation. Have had a real mixture of experiences, good cars were often already at a good price, some negotiable and some not and as ever there were some poor cars at lower prices. OT - I did notice when looking for my 355 recently there were some very poor examples at very high prices. irked

OP - If you're patient and have the cash a good deal will definately turn up! See as many as you can so you have an idea of condition but you will know I'm sure, when the right car comes along.

My last 2 purchases, I was looking for a while and turned down some supposedly good deals but was sticking to my view of what I felt was achievable and got rewarded in both cases with better than I expected. Patience is a virtue, I learnt the hard way by jumping in a bit too quickly on my previous car.

It's some nice shopping to be doing though, so enjoy it! thumbup
