Hi folks, I have a Gallardo for a few weeks over the summer and today it's got a flattie.

I'm hoping you might be able to pass on any reccommendations for replacement tyres?

It's a rear left Pirelli P Zero 295/30 ZR19 (100y)

Any pointers gratefully received!

Be sure to fit the correct tyres as per other advice on here.

The tyres are unique to the Gallardo - you can get PZeros the same dimensions made to fit 911s. They are NOT correct.

Any drivetrain element of your warranty will be void if you fit the wrong tyres so tread carefully. Pun not intended!

Thanks chaps, great info.

I never thought this would be so complicated! There are P-Zeros, then there are P-Zeros, then there are P-Zero Rossos, Corsas, etc, etc. I know that I need P-Zeros, for a Gallardo (it's a 57 plate), not Rossos or Corsas and have been quoted £300 each fitted, etc.

I will be replacing the rear two - but was wondering if I should also replace the front two at the same time? The car has only 4K on it and there is a plenty of life left in the fronts (about 60% worn I guess), but I'm worried what impact on the diff/transmission having tyres of differing age / wear profiles will have. Have spoken to Simon at Lambo London and am awaiting his call back, but hoping you may know in the interim?

So exactly what is the position of a main dealer in the UK (aka factory advice/policy) if you do not have all four tyres replaced at the same time? If I read Lambo Brum correctly the inference is you HAVE to replace all four for them to honour any warranty issues with the drivetrain. This would be the only car in the world that I have ever heard of this applying to.

ideally replace two tyres on the same axle at the same time
simultaneously replacing front and back is only good for tyre suppliers

I have sypmathy for the OP as I too am confused regarding P Zero rosso and nero. I guess the Corsas are for mainly track use but road legal. What is the difference between P Zero Rosso and Nero as they seem to have same spec and are about the same price. Can anyone make this simple?

Interesting ... the guy i bought mine from bought it from Lambo Brum. It came with 4 new Michelin PS2s on it.

Not the first - happened on Volvo 850R / V70R pre 2001 facelift.

It's to do with rolling radius - the new tyres are slightly larger than worn ones (c.10mm bigger owing to tread depth) and thus roll slightly slower than the other wheels on the car, meaning that the diffs have to work harder to deal with this, leading to increased temps and very high wear rates.

nerd Sorry, I'll get my coat wink

Lambo Reading reckon it's OK to replace only two, so have gone with a mobile fitting by e-tyres @ £308/each fully fitted. Lambo London never called back.

Thanks for the advice all, much appreciated!

I have 2 brand new Pirellis in the unit that were ordered for a customer that then changed his mind they were for his Gallardo.
To get them out the unit you can collect them for £200 each

If your interested give me a call

Surely the manufacturer has to prove the problem was caused by the tyres rather than a blanket statement of "Any drivetrain element of your warranty will be void if you fit the wrong tyres..."?

It seems as with stealers of all makes, they make these statements and it is you that has the burden of proof. Hearing comments like this is exactly the reason main stealers don't get any of my business.

So if Pirelli decide to stop making that tyre, or even go out of business, we all have to scrap our Gallardos? Is this not just licensing agreement crap, like their insistance we use Agiip, until this year when they changed their minds?

I suspect you're right of course, but since I'm only changing two, thought I'd better stick with the OE fit, if it were all four I suspect I might have done a bit more digging!

I can't praise e-tyres too highly mind - excellent & knowledgeable service on the phone, fitter very knowledgeable, and very pleasant and articulate. Decent prices too!
