This lunch time I got to have a good look around the new 458 and its beautiful. Sorry I can't post any photo's but I am sure someone will add some photo' to this thread as it's pretty much useless without them

I know it saw a lot of wind tunnel development time and I am not sure who did the styling but all the various cooling intakes just flow into the rest of the bodyshape so well you hardly notice they are there. I did the full 360 viewing test and couldn't spot a few I didn't like.

The back is very uncluttered with funky centre triple exhaust pipes, I think it's probably the prettiest car Ferrari has done in a long time but I am sure everyone has their own favourite.

The proportions are some much sleeker than the California but you can regonise a few familiar style cues from it's convertible sibling. It also looks visually smaller than the out going Ferrari it replaces.

Only bit I am not sure about is the silver prancing horse on the front is held about a couple of inches away from the satin black centre area below the bonnet, A front license plate unless its a very small centre one fixed where the prance horse is located is going to spoil the looks a bit.

3rd pipe will probably be the bypass channel for the exhaust. Didnt the F40 run the same configuration???

Utterly gorgeous. The triple pipes are truly awful though.

The centre pipe is the "normal" exhaust to meet the drive by noise reg's. The outer two are controlled by valves which open above a certain RPM to give the full symphony I assume biggrin

I really like the overall style, but the wheels could do with a bit more flare, and perhaps yes they should of only put the 2 exhausts on or maybe just one big one like the murci.... but wouldn't say no.... thumbup

You're blind?

I really don't know whether I like it or not. Some pics I think it looks great, but others I think it looks gash... I'll wait until I see it in the flesh to pass judgement...

Wheels I'm not sure about at all. Pipes... for the first time ever, I'd like black (or carbon?) pipes....

OP - thank you!

Thanks for posting the photos isuk, you stopped my post from being useless. I don't think photo's do the shape of the car any justice (no disrespect meant of your photography skills).

I see from your garage you are no stranger to fine cars so what were your initial thoughts having see one in the flesh.

If you do order one I'll swap you a drive in my old 930 when you come to collect it!

how the hell can you call that back end "uncluttered"?! I liked the press photos of this car and I'll probably like it in the metal but in these pictures it looks dreadful.

All of the pipes are connected to the turbo on the F40, as thats the route of exhaust gas on its way out, its the bypass channel for the muffler for drive by noise regs, probably the same for this, only not passing through turbo's obviously.

I think this car will look amazing in the flesh.

The photo's came from another website and must have been taken by a Ferrari employee judging from the assembled group of staff around the car. I'll see it at the launch on Wednesday so will report back in due course.

The third (middle) pipe is from the Turbo wastegates smile no drive by regs in 87, note routing of centre exit pipework in attached pic wink
