Buying a Maserati
Discussion
Hi,
Im an newbie so first of all hello to you all. Ive been recommended this site by a few people who said it is full of useful advise and information so thought id give it a go.
Im currently looking for a quick car with a budget of approx £45k. Ive owned porsches in the past which I loved so looking at a GT3 or possibly a 4S which the latter i know i could use every day if needs be, not doing many miles and then playing in at the weekends. But Ive been looking at Maserati, which I know absolutely nothing about and was wondering how practical they are, can they be used every day, what the mpg would be like, where are they best used i.e touring, tracks, motorways, what the warranty costs are, service intervals, prices for services, how quick the cars are. The maserati which i have in mind is some thing like the following:

Any advise would be greatfully recieved.
Thanks
Nic

Nic,
Firstly welcome and if your looking for lots of masser advice, I would head over to www.maseratiforum.co.uk.
However to quickly answer your questions.
- Yes, they can be used everyday, and if fact prefer that regular use. Mine does the daily runs and makes 10,000+ a year
- Pratical yes, the convertable has only two seats, but the coupe is a very spacey 4 seater. Also boot is not bad.
- They like all touring, tracks, motorways
- Warranties are from £1,400 to about £2,400 for an aftermarket to maserati one from experience
- MPG average about 18.
- Service intervals are one year or about 12,000 miles
- I would budget £1,000 for a service (Expect to pay Maserati/Ferrari for parts and servicing)
- Quick is 180mph top speed, 0-60 in 4.6ish
Hope this helps
Chris

Hi Nic and welcome!
the car you linked to is a gransport spyder and very rare, there were only a handful made. Do you want a convertible? if not, your budget is not that far off a gran turismo (maybe 10-15k shy) which is much more desirable. A "normal" maserati spyder (convertible) would be more like 20-25k and are a lot of fun for the money.
In general Maseratis are unusual, full of character, fun but expensive to run - service costs will be 800-1500 a go and so on.
