More of an academic question really, I was chatting about next cars with guy I work with and we both park our cars on the street (911 / SL55) and almost hypothetically we thinking about what cars you can park on the street without incident?

I think I will probably buy a 996 Turbo or a GT3, but we were talking around the £40k mark – so early AM V8s / 360’s etc.

Does anyone park this sort of metal on the street and assuming it isn’t vandalised how do the cars (360’s) stand up to not sitting in a warmed garage?

Fair answer - my feeling is, I'm happy to keep the porker there, whilst I wouldn't want a red Fezza on the street, any other colour would be fine?

Unlikely the colour will make a massive difference. Porkers are small and unassuming. No modern Ferrari is...

Totally depends on where you live. I used to live in South Ken and 911s, Astons and Gallardos were parked on streets overnight everyday!

Drove through there in the middle of the night last week, was thinking of somewhere "safe" to park my new RS60, and passed a Ferrari 599 parked on a street corner covered in leaves... Yeah it put my car into perspective!

That is the problem, near where I live the streets there must be around 10 prokers (993TT, a few 996s, 964, 968, 944 and a couple of Boxsters).

It isn't South Ken and the 2 Lambos I know of, one sits in a garage, the other on a driveway.

More just musing than anything else.

One element is can it cope with conditions, heavy rain, snow etc... Other element is theft and vandalism and as mentioned depends where it is and lastly people hitting by accident when they park or plebs leaning on it etc...I know of a Carrera GT & Murci that lives on the streetsmile

I used to leave my 360 on a quiet street in Kensington.
Was one of three 360s left there etc. The biggest problem was the european "bump" parkers which means it's more than likely you'll have scratches on the front an back.

Torrential rain can expose any design faults - apparently an issue on earlier 360s and gallardos.

Car was covered in chips and cones once after notting hill carnival which was annoying (although a little funny).

Mate's 360CS was covered in batter after halloween in same st.

I wouldn't leave something like a Murci on the st as the carbon fiber body parts would be too expesive to replace if someone bumped them and drove off.

There is a GT3 in knightsbridge that is always under a cover, so unless you know what your looking for, you wouldnt really have noticed it... even with the wing. A cover might help it go un-noticed when parked over night?

Where is the carrera GT and Murcie parked (if you dont mind me asking) im asking so i can take photos, not to smash them up, i get annoyed when people touch supercars that arnt theirs.

Dude I know you take great pics for the supercars thread, I used to be there from Vol 1. There are many supercars cars that park on the street overnight, the CGT is normally around Kendal St W2(pics of are aleady on the thread) I used to see the Murci around Halsey St SW3 but tbh haven't seen it for a bit.

I was there more as a reference point for info on Porsche & Mercedes, unfortunately I don't have your creativity to take good pics.

all you need is a fairly standard camera, i do. then walk around a car and think, oh thats a good angle, put the camera on, see what it looks like in the screen... move it about for better angle then click. lower / higher angles look better in my opinion. should give it a try!
just google mapped the 2nd place you said and saw gallardo spyder... i always walk round there and see nothing but db9 / amv8! lol

Was usually there at night, it was purple and stock and had a heart on the number plate iirc. There was also a few days during last summer when a Veyron(UAE) was parking on the street off Gloucester Rd.

In upmarket central London, you can leave ANYTHING on the street.
There's such supercar overload in the city, no-one really gives damn anymore.

Disagree - there are always drunks/losers/green-eyed monsters that will commit wanton vandalism where-ever you park.... have seen a whole row of cars vandalised in a quiet street in SW7, my BMW was keyed in SW1, and have seen many 911's in residents bays with key marks down the side, also in SW1.

Wherever you park you will for sure be at the mercy of the park-by-bump-ers at the very least.

fair enough mate - but it hasn't happened to me or a few supercar owning pals of mine.
I parked the old Ferrari on the street for weeks and nothing never happened. The showiest car, GT3RS (pretty lairy) was left out rain or shine.
Nothing.

Consider this, if something as "normal" as BMW can get keyed, are you really running much more additional risk with a 430? Just a thought.

Just look round the West End. Wall to wall Porsches & Bentleys parked on the streets.
Nobody gives them a second look.
I suppose a cover could disguise it a bit.

My opinion is that you can leave exotica parked on the street pretty much anywhere in London without it being messed with. I live in Deptford in SE London which is meant to be one of the capitals worse areas, since living here I've had a VX220, Carrera 2, 991 turbo, F430 and a constant Jag x type estate and none of them have had so much as a scratch on them. I'm not sure whether it's because people presume that they'll get shot because it is the local dealer but I found the same when I lived in Whitechapel and Greenwich. I get constantly amused by friends coming to visit from out of town in their Focuses/A3s etc saying 'do you think it'll be alright to park it overnight?'
