Hi All, Im looking to purchase either a F430 or a Gallardo, I will decide which I like the best and to be honest I would be happy owning either and at some time would like to have owned both.

My question to those in the know is one of price and resale value, An important factor in me deciding which to own at this moment would be one of later resale, I would probably own for around 12 months before considering something else and would like to know how much I could expect to lose in that time.

For either model I would be looking at some of the cheapest on the market so for the Gallardo would be around 60 to 65 K and for the F430 up to about 70 k.

I will add probably less than 5000 miles in the 12 months

Not got too much to add but I was in a similar position 6 months ago, and decided on the Gallardo. The main reason was purely down to it being my dream car, and I personally think it looks better.

I don't think either car will depreciate more than the other within a year. Again, just my opinion..

Which one does your heart/head say?

Like Justin, I was in a similar position- but chose Gallardo because it had more of a Wow factor/road presence and looked 'more beautiful' (IMO).

Your not buying anything too new, so depreciation will not be stomach curdling amounts.

Looking on PH there appear to be about half as many G's for sale vs various 430s - so perhaps supply&demand may help on the depreciation front if you went with a G?

I have a gallardo at the moment and love it,however being a life long ferrari fan i am planning on getting a 430 in the spring however with the 456 coming out in january i am sure the 430 prices will fall fairly heavily over the next 12 months, where as i dont see any reason for gallardo prices falling much over the same period. In which case i would proberly stick with the lambo for a while longer. My advice would be get a early gallardo fit a tubi and you wont look back the only problem you will have is knowing what to replace it with when the time comes to change it.

458 dude wink the gallardo is the prettier car imo but suffers from more problems but i guess that is wat all the threads lead you to believe

I agree with what Justin says, I doubt any one will loose more money than the other. The only thing is the 448 is coming out and some 430 owners might be trading up to that, however seeing as we are in a recession I can't see every 430 owner trading it in.

As for which one to go for, well just think which one excites you more. Personally I've never had any problems with the Gallardo although I've heard of a few people who have. In my opinion the Gallardo is better looking than the 430 and has more of a WOW factor, but as I said before it's up to you.

Good luck though and let us now how you get along.

I was a Ferrari fan all my life, and dreamt of getting one...

...but when the time came that I was in a position to buy a Ferrari, I took a look at a Gallardo, and that was it for me! Awesome looks and performance. And definitely unmatchable "WOW factor!"

Had my Gallardo 18 months, and even now I get excited everytime I drive it just like I did the first time ever. Really struggling to think of what to buy next!

(And a Tubi is a must! lick)

Eh no idea?! Didn't realise there was an option.

Seem to get some popping and banging on the over run aswell which is nice! No where near the amount my TVR did though

There are 3 different systems that will fit the 06 on cars, did you get it from Tubi ?

Interesting thread (well to me anyway) in that I'm asking myself the same question.

I was leaning towards the Gallardo becuase of it's agressive styling, my GF on the other hand much prefers the looks of the F430. Also, for the budget I have, I can buy a slightly newer Gallardo.

Then, I went on a driving day and drove a Gallardo and 360.

What a disapointment the Gallardo was, maybe I had set my expectations too high, but I would stick with my old TVR Tuscan 'S' over the Gallardo. It just didn't have the wow factor to drive - it seemed 'normal'. Don't get me wrong, I still loved the way it looked, but I am buying a supercar to drive, not just look at. The Lotus Exige I drove was a more fun car (IMO ofcourse!)

I then got into the 360, which I didn't expect a lot from. Reading these forums, some of you think that the 360 isn't even a 'proper' Fezza. Not sure why, however I loved it. So responsive, winding her up to 8000+ revs and listening to those engine notes. Ig gave me the same tingle I got when I first drove the Tuscan.

My Mrs was so pleased when I came of the track and told her it had to be Fezza. Can't wait!

If it was me, I'd get the 430. It's regarded as more reliable, in my opinion it's got a more interesting bespoke feeling interior compared to the Audi-esque Gallardo, it isn't dulled by a 4WD system, and in the right colour combination it's not THAT ugly. wink As I have to sit inside a car, the interior and how it makes you feel is just as important to me as the outside and for me the Ferrari ticks the right boxes including that indispensable prancing horse on the steering wheel.. wink Pretty sure you will be happy with either as it doesn't seem you're aligned to any particular brand. If I was you I would buy on which one feels the most special.

I personally think the Gallardo will hold it's value better. 360/430 seem to be available in more numbers.
