The Daytona - I don't get the fuss.
Discussion
I got given one of those history of Ferrari books which I have been enjoying reading.
I just don't 'get' the fuss about the Daytona.
I think the Dino is beautiful and I'm sure in its day the Daytona looked special but I thought there was a lot of fuss over very little.
I appreciate the front engined Ferraris as much as the next man but this one leaves me cold.
Am I missing something as to why its a special car in the history of Ferrari?
I guess it is a very personal thing but I'd appreciate a shove in the right direction if I'm missing a key element of why it is looked on with such fondness.

If you like cars - you might change your mind when you see one in the flesh.
biased 'cause I have always loved it. The lines and proportions are spot on, and it still is fast by today's standards. Doesn't sound too shabby either.
Ferrari V12 - check
Stonking performance - check
fabulous seats - check (anyone got optional "daytona" seats in their modern Fezza?)
Continent cruising ability - check
crowd magnet - check

With an appropriate exhaust system, they sound the absolute busines! Afterall, it's a Columbo V12 breathing through carbs!
Not sure what the best exhausts are but I beleive that the period ones with those gorgeous quadruple, 'rifled'(?) trumpets were made by Ansa... probably out of mild-steel though.

I second this - the Daytona was featured in several episodes of Columbo, in the driveways of the wealthy who committed the murders. Not sure what the best exhausts are but I beleive that the period ones with those gorgeous quadruple, 'rifled'(?) trumpets were made by Ansa... probably out of mild-steel though.
