Mid 50k Gallardo- weekend toy?
Discussion
Or a potential money pit or infact both. What's the maximum mileage you people would consider and what would you avoid.
As I say I'm thinking about 55k ish no part ex preferably with a dealer and some sort of warranty. I'm actively looking for a 360 but I keep seeing these Lambo's and they are something special.
Cheers

Get one over a 360 anyday of the week. Just be prepared to be on the very very bottom rung of the Gallardo ladder. You won't get a perfect car for that money, and it will be higher mileage/lower spec etc but it'll still be a better looking car than a 360
Cheers thanks for that, are there any must haves spec wise even at the lower end?.
Cheers

Various thoughts in this thread - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...At that money I'd be buying a G over a 360.
Gring - Seems you've been spotted a few times, glad you're out enjoying her!

I cant get enough of the car, it is addictive. It's not like any car I have ever driven.
I know the feeling. I hope the weather stays dry for the next couple of weeks.Gring said:

Fair do's, I sure am. Hopefully see you there if you're not too hung over!As long as they have been looked after it should be fine. Just make sure you don't completely empty your bank account buying one and then have no money left to maintain it. Sadly if you look at 355s a lot of them have been bought by people who could just afford them, but couldn't afford the maintenance, which means there are a lot of dogs out there.
If you can get one with Sat Nav, it's good for resale, it's a pretty good unit although no doubt others will disagree with me. Personally I've had no problems with it. Oh and it looks far nicer than the tape player. As for the e0gear vs manual thing, it's up to you, drive both and see.

The Satnav is quite good, but I am comparing it to the useless lump of cack that was in my old Maserati. The best feature for me is the 2 SD card slots that allow you to put in 2x 4GB cards for your music. Although the stereo sound quality is pants.justin220 said:
Peter, you need to get a Tubi fitted! I've just had mine put on.. OH MY GOD!
I have been thinking about it, not sure though. I quite like being able to drive around in relative quietness and getting the sound of thunder when I put my foot down. I had Larini's on my Maserati and found it a bit much at times. The noise would set off car alarms. Whats the noise level in the cabin through the rev range like?Sarnie said:

Whats the noise level in the cabin through the rev range like?Thing I don't get about people saying 'avoid high milers' is, surely if the car is 4 or 5 years old, surely anything under 20k is more worrying. Probably been sat around doing nothing for the best part of 4 years. No thanks. Fair enough if buying a year old/newer one, less mileage would be nice. But on a 5 year old car, one thats done <10000miles would put me off personally.
I'd rather get a used but looked after example.

I am looking at cars in a similar range , but dont really think tthat 20 000 miles is high given the engineering standards that supercars are built to nowadays . I only seem to read about clutch wearing out issues , virtyally no other problems . quite unlike TVR , Lotus and a host of other limited production cars , but hey ,i'm only reading and learning !

They seem to be more reliable than most cars in this league, but when things do go wrong I would imagine cost huge amounts to fix.If I get offered the right money I think I would.
