Hi All, Im looking to get a Gallardo in the first 1/4 of next year as a second car.

I was wondering what owners and non owners thoughts are on Coupe Vs Spyder.

Personally I always think that I prefer Coupes for sports cars such as Gallardo, F430, 360, Porsche 911, I prefer the look of them and maybe also the thought that it is more of a drivers car.

However I think when it comes down to the purchase I will end up with a Spyder, Why, I dont know, I intend at this stage to be getting a Coupe but the lure of a convertible always gets me.

... get caught by what you really want then!

imvho the Gallardo Spyder is the mutt's pods - very, very pretty cars with 0 to prove to the coupe or anything much else...

better to just give in and have what you want!

If it's going to be a weekend toy then go for the Spyder. Just imagine top down in the sun, or even better - through a tunnel..... smile

it's all down to personal choice, have you driven either yet?

my choice would be spyder every time, I'm an ok driver, but nowhere near good enough to be able to differentiate between coupe and syder in terms of handling.

and yes...roof down through a tunnel or across the alps....no contest!

I reckon Harsh has it nailed. I went from a spider to a coupe and just had to get back to a spider. Missed the noise, no need for a Tubi etc when you can hear it so clearly, the smells and wind in what's left of my hair motoring. The acid test for me is which would you prefer to be sitting in to eat your fish and chips at the seaside? biggrin

I intend to swap my coupe for a spyder early next year. I'm 6'3 .. no headroom issues in the coupe but i've heard the spyder can be a bit cramped with the roof up. Is this right?

I'm 6'3" as well and while the headroom isn't exactly enormous, I don't feel like I have to slouch at all. As far as looks go I've always thought the Gallardo is one of the few cars were the convertible looks every bit as good as the coupe.

fwiw i'm 6'2" and the spyder simply doesn't have enough leg room for me frown

Then you're not trying! I am 6'4" and have no problem in the Spyder. I would mirror previous comments. Usually prefer coupes but the Spyder with roof down through a tunnel is awesome.

When I looked for my 360 I did consider a spyder and if I'd found one in reasonable condition no doubt I would have bought it, however I did have in the back of my mind that a convertible was just a step to far from the posing side of things. I've got some stick from my mates for buying the Modena, god only knows what would have happened if I'd bought a convertible, I'd have got a full hair styling kit for Christmas no doubt.(-;
But I will concede the spyder is a better looking car in both Ferrari and Lambo.

Coupes for driving, Spyders for posing. Take your pick.

I too am in a similar situation, looking to purchase sometime in the new year after the house.
I absolutely love the look of the coupe and think it would be a nicer car to be in on those colder days, the spyder looks great top down but it just doesnt do it for me with the hood up.

I'll still keep my VX for the track so if I ever need that roof off action I can still do that.
