Gallardo / Murci
Discussion
Hi
Now that I have been thinking about the Lambo thing for a while and getting closer to the time of purchase - I was wondering if anyone has owned both cars and could let me have some thoughts on ownership experience?
Personally, I think the G is the prettier car but once you get into these types of cars I almost think the more bonkers the better.....?
Servicing costs would seem to be similar, but I am guessing that as I would be looking at a 52 plate Murci and a 2007 Gallardo that the Murci will cost more to run if for no other reason than it is older?
I have some driving to do - if I can find dealers that offer a test drive without either a) having to absolutely beg for one and then grudgingly given one, and/or b) hand over a deposit before the test drive. In the meantime, what are your thoughs on the driving/dynamics experience?
I realise that coming from a Mk1 GT3 that neither car will be as agile, carry more weight etc.
Thanks in advance!

I've never driven a Murci, although If any owners on here would like to give me a shot that would be great
. The Gallardo is very easy to drive, visibility is good for that type of car and reliability wise I've never had any problems with it.
the Murci is far rarer. As already said I reckon it will hold it's value much better than a Gallardo, however there are a few things to bear in mind:
1) From my experience of seeing them, they are much lower to the ground than a Gallardo and to my knowledge the front lifting system wasn't offered on the standard Muric, just the LP640, so it will make it tricker to drive.
2)Visibility isn't as good as the Gallardo, but I guess installing a reversing camera would solve that.
3) The Murci will probably get A LOT more attention, so using it may be that bit trickier.
4) Lamborghini don't give extended warranties on older cars, so you couldn't get a Murci with a Lambo warranty wher as you could get a Gallardo.
All that considered however, I would go for a Muric. I think they are stunning cars and hey you only live once. Who cares if it's going to be more impracticable, you won't be using it everyday.
I hope that helps, sorry I couldn't give any direct experience with the Murci, hopefully some owners will be along soon.

I've had 2 Gallardos (an '04 and an '06 SE) and now have an LP640 - all e-gear. I'm a fairly high mileage driver. The Gallardos were much more troublesome and the Murci has been faultless. The Gallardo is an easier car for everyday use due to size mostly. All Murcis have the front lift, AFAIK, but the LP640 really needs it - you use it every time you drive it in town. The Murci is more of an event - with good and bad aspects to this. I'd be happy with either car but the Murci feels more special. It is the first car I've thought about keeping beyond the next new model.
Hey, this is an excuse for a pic! Taken a week ago south of Adelaide.

One the question of driving dynamics, the G is better on the tight stuff but the M has a much better ride in fast open country. I also have a 997 Carrera S and it is superior to either Lambo for pure driving feel due to the superior steering - though not peformance or sound. The Murci's steering is sharper than my '06 GSE was but all AWD Lambos have too much self centering in the steering for my liking. The brakes on the LP640 have much better feel than the G and also less fade - which is strange given the extra weight. Both sound good but I prefer the M with the bypass valve "fixed". The G has more interior space with room for soft bags being the seats but the M has a larger and more practical boot. The G seats aren't great but they are superior to the M which are pretty uncomfortable. Servicing costs are similar and not too bad. Tyres are similar. In most things the M costs a little more but not that much. The M is thirstier by a far margin. HTH.
