... the owner of that Countach is on here very occasionally - he's not a million miles from the Ace either.

Thanks for making sure his full registration isn't seen though most folk who know him, know what the number is.

FYI, I drove that car a few years ago when it was just almost perfect, now the owner has made it even closer than that - breakdown at the Ace notwithstanding. It was a joy to drive, more gentle than some Countachs I've driven have been but, significantly, the proper full-on mega bhin' strega when required!

On it's old plate whilst filming for a TopGear programme in 2003 - note large, mostly round presenter and horde of kids fitting neatly in the car...

... nope TopGear from one of the 'not with JC' years ...

There was one little redheaded girl who appears in the film, seated in the drivers side, hands on the wheel who looks straight at the camera and says "this car rocks!" - which is the 'sanitised' version of what she originally said which was "this fking car rocks!"

bless, she'll be about 16 now, some poor lad will be having to deal with that... redface

Is that a Pagani Zonda in the rear of the photo and also a nice TVR, Nissan GTR?

The countach is a beauty though.

yep - there was a (then new) 360 involved as well...

The bairns at that school and another one were asked to vote for their favourite car of the 4 new cars but not before they got to see XXVIII 'arrive' in the Countach, head-to-toe in matching black and 'trademark' firelens Ray-Bans...

Children of all ages fainted when the throttle was blipped, then dribbled when the door was opened and/or fainted again... There was snot all over the Countach and Zonda windows, some 'upset' when of all the cars, the person 'guarding' the Ferrari insisted that no schoolkids would be allowed inside it and as for the voting...

The BBC researcher made sure that when the voting scores were announced, they said that the TVR and Skyline were 4th and 5th (I forget which) and the Ferrari 3rd, the Pagani 2nd and...

In the real world however, the Ferrari, as driven by the nasty man came rank last and the Countach as driven by XXVIII had more votes than the rest of the cars put together. I'm under no illusion about my driving the car having any part in the bull's victory that day...

yep - on a really, really hi-technology v-idd-eh-o that the BBC sent me of the whole programme as broadcast - includes Hammond and Jason Dawes discussing what the children had been drawing before and after the shoot(s) and how they weren't what you'd call 'Prius-style' things.

The second school's headmistress was a pretty woman who just smiled when I asked if she'd like to sit in the Countach for a minute so I could get a photograph of her as well as the ones with the children for the LCUK magazine.

She said, "I bet you say that to all the girls" and without a smart-ass answer to that, I didn't get the picture anyway - not as smooth an operator as I could wish to be, I guess...

"not to all, only the special ladies..."
or
"oh yes and i always get my apples.."

both would have been fine to voice given the kids standing around LOL

... that's a very subjective point of view Leslie and you know it! smile

There are at least three or four more Countachs of all kinds in the UK that are at least as good as DM's - not better necessarily but at least as good.

There are a couple of QVs - one red one near the M40 in Buckinghamshire and one pearl white in Scotland that are gorgeous, gleaming examples.

Plus, for example, please refer to the LCUK 2009 calendar page for this month - I rest my case! ...

that being one very famous orange BAG of course - dribble, dribble, dribble

Did you know that you can fit N I N E under-9's in a Countach if you wedge the smaller ones deep into the passenger footwell?

I don't 'do' epic fails, it being a thing I don't do wink

The car was only taken for a service, so all is well with this stunning car and yes dm seems like a nice bloke and very lucky to have such a good example of "The Ultimate Calender car of its time" as for the new plate it fits the car perfect,

If you want that transferred onto a DVD, feel free to give me a yell, I've got the kit to make a decent job of the transfer.

thanks for the offer but I might just bully my sister to do that and a few other veeedeeeoooooo's of similar stuff onto dvd - she's always willing to help, if only to be allowed a quiet(er) life though she's still making a dvd of a video copy of some ancient Family of XXVIII cine-films that's only taken her most of this year to get to...
