I think the Lp550 Balboni has already addressed the Scuderia.. any new Gallardo out from now will be in direct competion with the new Ferrari 458 which has raised the game again...

i believe that by keeping all the trim in the balboni, and detuning it by a token ten bulls, lamborghini have left enough room for a 560 sl.
it'll be more powerful and more expensive than any g to date, the only question being whether or not it will be 2wd.

I agree, it needs to have the 458 in its sights - technology with these cars is moving on. Autocar tested the £105k new Porsche Turbo and it constantly did 0-60 at 3.2 seconds! Also does 0-100 in Zonda/SLR eating times.

I would personally have thought they need/should release an all new model to be honest. New Mclaren will be no slouch either.

If they did release an LP560 SL it would want to be very different and pretty hardcore because if a 458 Scuderia comes out, it will be mental!

Wont the LP560 SL still be 4WD? Like the last one (I think)?

And wont this effectively be a run out edition? Like the LP670-4 SV?

Must be lot's of new Lambo's in the near/short term?......

I hear it will not be called Superleggera, but LP590-4 SV

Who knows though. Would be nice if they could be convinced to do a 2wd version given the basic hardware is done now

Can't confirm too much for obvious reasons, but CAN confirm that the forthcoming SL won't be the last we see of the current Gallardo!

As the LP560 is my favourite and IMO prettiest car, this is good news. biggrin

But these performance jumps are mainly down to DSG vs manual gearboxes rather than less weight/more power. At the end of the day there is a lot more to a car than 0-60/0-100 times, if it were the only criteria wouldn't the Carrera GT instantaneously devalue to below the price of a gen2 turbo?

Well the new Turbo has less weight than the previous model and can also handle - it only has an extra 20bhp over the previous model but is allot quicker - Technology has just moved on. I think the 458 then the new Mclaren will take things on even further. And is straight line speed and power not the Gallardos's strongest area with regards to performance?

i think the existing Superleggera sits along side the scuderia so if the do release another it will be up against the 458..

having personally taken delivery of a superleggera a couple of weeks ago i cant see how they could improve on it, certainly better than the existing LP560 and the interior is at least much better than the new balboni (cant coment on the driving yet obviously).

i think we'll see a LP570-4 SV next.

Did you mean to say it will be denoted SL or just a figure of speech? Dealer rumours I hear are that it will be an SV...? Or maybe SL first then more powerful 2wd SV for when FGB scud arrives?

Surely Lambo wont be putting an essentially old car(2003 launch) up against a modern 458 Scud or Mclaren MC12? They should release an SL then call it a day with regards to the Gallardo IMO.
