There seems to be total confusion among the press about the actual cost of the Gallardo 550-2 Balboni.

PH says £138k, others say its more expensive than the 560-4.

Anyone actually know what it costs?

And how much less it actually weighs? I've heard everything from only 30kg lighter to 120kg.

If it's significantly less than a 560 I'd be tempted to call the lambo dealer. If it's more they can keep it.

You could just call / email the Lambo dealer for *accurate* answers to your questions...?

it is cheaper basic, but not much cheaper. a fully spec'd one will be pushing 180k...should hold its value better though??

What spec pushes the price to £180K exactly if the standard cost is £138K? As for holding its value, i doubt is as a 580-600bhp Gallardo is rumoured for 2010. The Gallardo SE died a death as soon as the standard car got the BHP upgrade.

Maybe Lambo Brum can tell us what the car actually costs as Autocar,Top Gear and Parkers guide have it as £160+ BUT Evo who had it as there car of the year claim its costs £138k

The white one in Lambo London was being advertised as £174 000 and has disappeared now.

according to the shockingly bad Lambo website 'CARB WEIGHT 1500KG' for the 560-4.

and 1380kg for the 550-2. If that's remotely accurate then it has been on a low 'CARB' diet indeed.

However all that remains clear is that no-one has a clue how much the Balboni costs nor what it weighs.

Very True - considering the money they are making and wanting us to spend there, there Website is a disgrace - always has been. AS for weight and cost, our friendly Birmingham Lambo dealer(LamboBrum) seems quiet on the topic. Maybe they dont even know themselfes???

P.S. Website shows that Lambo Birmingham have 1 car? Anyone know if they are in trouble? I know that they double up as a Bentley dealer but having 1 Lambo seems a tad pathetic???

Well their website is credited as being created by http://www.gigalab.com/ - and based on their JavaScript form field validation messages I would say that English is definitely a second language for them.

people forget the link between cost of a product and profit. Lambo "only" made 60m euros in 2008 (46m in 2007). That's only a tenth of the profit made by Skoda for example.

Its not much but its profit, there are allot of car companies that fail to break even BUT i bet they have a better standard of website,LOL. Its just pure laziness in my opinion, there is no excuse for such a bad website.

I'm sure Tesco makes more than Harrods, but you wouldn't expect a luxury brand to scrimp on the presentation of their brand.

I was basing figures on a white car I saw at Lambo Manc which had just sold for a tick under 180k. The extras were the standard, e-gear, transparent engine cover, rear-view camera, leather package, branding package etc etc AND a new one which i hadn't heard of before - LED lighting in the engine bay!

just a wild guess, but...

138k basic + 21k vat + 1k otr= 160k
e gear 6k
engine cover 6k
camera 2k
leather pack 2k
branding 2k
fairy lights 2k
total 180k ish

6k for e-gear?! Who in their right mind would pay extra for a far worse gearbox than a gorgeous open gate manual? Balboni himself favours the manual which is good enough for me.

I really hope this trend for paddle shifts is exposed for what it is - no more than a trend. On a joyless daily hack by all means have an auto but
on a lambo?! What's next a nice torquey diesel?!

My main issue is that manual cars are as rare as hens teeth used so I'd have to buy new to have a lambo with a proper gearbox. And at current prices they're just a bit too steep for my liking. The upshot is no lambo for me at the moment. I seriously couldn't spend over £100k on a car with an auto. Paddles or no paddles.

<pedantic mode>the e-gear is not an automatic, and has exactly the same gearbox as the manual</pedantic mode> biggrin
