Just got a bit of a bargain....

Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but, in anticipation of sorting myself out an F355 in January, I started looking for parking spaces in my local area, Fulham. I've just managed to secure a space in an underground car park, gated, CCTV-ed etc, for the princely sum of £108 pcm
And the best bit is, it's literally 4 mins walk from my house!

Makes me appreciate not living in the big smoke. Could not imagine leaving a Ferrari 4 miles away in a shared car park. I have heard London is bad for finding garages to rent. I bet there expensive to buy to aren't they?
haha! but better than leaving it on the street which was going to be my fall back plan!this'll make you wince...

80k for a garage is relative though - it does actually look like a sensible buy if you look at it another way.
e.g.
It's 20 quid a day to park at my office, which is > £400/month.
Taking a mortgage on an 80k garage with a 25% deposit at 4.0% is approx £360 PCM.
Plus you own an asset that can be realised (probably at a profit) in the future. So the only cost for parking is the interest on the loan - £200 / month. So the real cost of parking is halved. As long as you have £20k deposit floating around of course.
I get the train though, it's cheaper and quicker still...
PS - congrats on the garage - you're only paying 20 quid a month more than me for garage space, and I'm much further out!

I used to lease a small studio near the Cromwell Hospital in Kensington until 2001 when the greedy landlord wanted to up the rent by over 80% because my business was doing OK, but that's another story...
A local family owned one of the tall, narrow 4/5 bedroom townhouses in the area (£some millions value) and decided to buy a drafty and barely 9 foot wide garage just around the corner for nearly £120,000!
The world (aka the Evening Standard...) was duly shocked and outraged that a mere one-car garage could cost so much money...
Anybody with a brain and eyes to see would have been distressed if those people hadn't increased the notional sale value of their home by at least five times as much as that.
When they finally sold, they hit the market at just the right time (early 2006...) and made AT LEAST an extra £800,000 on the value of their house due to having that (still crappy) garage as well.
I know all this because the family of owners of that house and garage included a ridiculously tall brunette who used to earn some pin money working for me. She was worth at least a couple of safety pins as well as the tin tacks I paid her and made a pretty decent cup of coffee and/or collected gooey cakes and even better coffee from the local deli, sometimes...

There's a 599 parked on the street near Cromwell hospital. That's a bit more costly than a 355.
Though personally I'd sleep better knowing my P&J (be it my vintage Golf GTI or current RS60) was safe and out of harms way...
