Thinking about fitting a Capristo to my 355, but just wondering how much it will cost? Also I've heard about levels 1,2 &3 what exactly is the difference between the different levels. I guess they are just louder?

Also any suggestion as to where I can get one?

Thanks

Verdi are the main distributors, http://www.verdi-ferrari.com/home.htm . I recommend level one. I have had mine for maybe 7 years now bought from him.
Many have heard mine on youtube (Its the most popular 355 capristo clip)and they have sold there Tubis to by one. There isnt another that sounds better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qtd2yxvVR0http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqRNLJL9uEc
The level one is perfect in every way. Were as the level 3 sounds far to much for the performance for the car, what i mean is sounds like a racing FXX and goes like a 355 wink

i have a 360 with a level 2 Capristo and would totally recommend that...
Cactussed has a 2 on his 355 and it sounds epic.

of course it's louder than standard but just so tuneful!
I'm sure Drew will be along to let you know in the mean time here's a quick vid.
(in car is from the 355 the other car you hear is an M3 CSL)

I'm here!

Verdi's are the main distributor, although I think Eurospares can get them also?
They cost an arm and a leg (I think about £2.5k?) but are worth every penny. Seriously.

Level 1,2,3 refers to how quiet they are with the valve closed, 3 being the loudest. They are all the same volume with the valve open. I currently run a level 2.

Here's another in-car around the ring. The filming is with a happy snapper, so not amazing sound or picture, but you get the idea (that I am an average driver biggrin ).

They have gone up a little in price sinse i bought mine 7 years back. I think thats due to the makes popularity.
Even then at the time Carl let me have the exhaust for a week before i paid for it. It was the try before you buy sales pitch, he confidently knew i would be back to pay for it biggrin

A silly question now. Is there any chance that a Ferrari with capristo/tubi (either level) would have any issues passing MOT due to high noise levels?

Put it this way, my cars not only have capristos on them. They also have straight pipes instead of cats. They always pass there MOTs every year...always wink Read into that anyway you want, but my MOTs are legally issued to me. Get to know your local garage.
Another interesting point is that if you was to read the stamp on the Capristo exhaust, it says in a round about way "for track use only". So this means that even if you are running hyper-flow style cats, the back box is still track use only. These decisions are up to the owner to decide on.
But if the MOT pass issue really does cause you to loose sleep the night before. It takes about an hour or so to remove the after market gear and replace it with the standard set up.

See that has just made me think twice about getting one. I don't know anyone at my "local" garage who would be shall we say lenient so that now means I might have a problem getting the car through an MOT and although it sounds easy to change the exhaust back and forth it isn't. I an useless mechanically and the closest Ferrari garage or specialist is 2 and a bit hours away.

Is there any way you can have a capristo that will pass an MOT without ANY hassle?

Thanks

Sorry i may have started some confusion frown Yes, your car will easily pass the MOT emissions with a Capristo on, as long as the standard cats are left on the car. Easily smile
I just mentioned that my cars have no cats but straight pipes as well as a Cappy and still passes. Theres always a way round any problem. The reason i mentioned the straight pipes is because its usually the next step after one has fitted the Capristo. There is absolutely no comparison sound wise between a de-catted system compared to a catted system.
There are alot of ferrari owners out there who will always preach about keeping there cats on for environmental reasons. Only to forget that there Capristos ect ect are not road legal wink

I managed to pick up a lovely sounding Tubi for £300 off ebay. Keep your eyes open for a bargain if you can.

I originally wanted a Capristo, but the wife thought it was a lot for a bit of metal. But couldn't miss a bargain like that! Was well worth it, beautiful sound. Ok, so its not quiter as good as what you'd maybe get from a Capristo, but about 90% as good.

I don't think £300 bargains come up all that often - unfortunately!

I am toying with idea of a Capristo for my 360, but as nice as these things are to hear on youtube, I am going to wait until I have heard tubi's, capristo's and others on a car before I decide which way to go. I guess a Ferrari meet would be needed for this.

I heard that Nouvalari make great quality kit for half the cost and was reliably informed that they are of comparable quality - just not the brands people are familiar with .... but only from what I have been told - I haven't seen/heard them all for myself YET!

(Now if we could make a video of a std car, alongside a level 1, 2 & 3 Tubi, alongside a level 1, 2 & 3 Capristo, a Timate, a Nouvalari and any others, then made a decent video, it would feature prety high on youtube I guess!)

A capristo on a 360 does not sound anything like a 355 with a capristo. Completely different sounds.

My 93 348 goes through an MOT with a Nouvalari Supersport system and Test Pipes no problem.
