I noticed that too.
Also, Amari's 88 1/2 QV has suddenly dropped £30k!

I think their Anniversary model has dropped £10k too.
I've not noticed other classic supercars suddenly going for less than they were not long ago...???

Everybody in Oz has a countach/TR etc now.
lolwell there were only 2000 approx countachs built so I assume most are replicas!!!
Not sure about any suggestion that prices are falling. Two cars dont mark a trend. For any of these cars condition is everything. It can easily cost £25000 plus for a recommisioning!

Somewhere many, many pages ago is a long, rambling post that was made regarding a red QV with a red steering wheel.
The small matters to do with that car's original owner and his distress-causing activity to the then importers would add to that story, if you can be bothered to go look for it. PistonHeaders should have heard the howl of outrage followed by harsh, knowing laughter from the guy who was the UK service manager at that time when he heard that the car still existed at all and how much was being asked for it...
How remarkable that a claim of value vastly in excess of actuality should have appeared and be suddenly subject to a colossal decline from a vendor! There is a sense that the vendor is pinch-feeling perhaps???
The damage has now been done however - as was clearly the intention. The carefully cultivated values of the better remaining Countachs, QV's in particular, have now been knackered by one particular car that's clearly a wrong 'un by comparison.
ANY SIMILARITY HERE TO ANY KNOWN PEOPLE, BUSINESSES, EVENTS OR ITEMS ARE ENTIRELY COINCIDENTAL obviously

Ahhhh Countach prices .... my specialist subject!!
Fortunately I can talk from experience (not speculation)....
Good CT's with full history will ALWAYS command a good price.
Cars which have not been looked after, and not had the £1000's and £1000's spent on them to keep them in prestine condition are obviously worth less.
During the sale of my QV I had a few chancers offering me all sorts of insulting offers and genuinely trying to convince me that THEY were doing me a favour by offering to take it away!! I even had a one Dealer (who shall remain nameless) but from St Albans offer me just a fraction of what it was worth..... nice try fella's!!!
A week later it sold v close to the asking price through Dion at Elms collection.

Could you please give us a clue as to what to search for

also re. the information concerning the COMPLETELY MADE-UP MATTER ABOVE - starter for 10 involves the use of bogus titles and implication of sandiness...
I've seen most of the Countachs for sale over the past couple of years and very, very few of them have been in the condition I'd expect. Even ones that have been sold for a lot of money were not in a condition I'd pay the money for. Tired rubbers, tired seats and damaged interior trim, poor detailing on the vents...all stuff that could be easily sorted but really let these cars down...or maybe I am being too fussy?....
When you think that Anniversarios were trading at the £45k level 3 years ago and now the same cars are being pitched at £70k, it does seem strange that a 5000S or QV should trade anywhere below those levels...

the problem with a lot of cars is that they are garage queens and people are terrified to drive them! It cost me £20000 to put mine on the road! The interior trims take a hammering as there re more people jumping in and out of the cars than ever drive them! Also it isn't an easy car to get in and out of so the trim does take abuse. When you think that Anniversarios were trading at the £45k level 3 years ago and now the same cars are being pitched at £70k, it does seem strange that a 5000S or QV should trade anywhere below those levels...
Sadly I drive mine as they were designed for! Am not too fussed about interior trim, as that is probably the cheapest thing to sort on the car!
There were only 2000 or so made of all types and most cars are known. It is a very small world of ownership

Hi Paul,
I thought the total production run for Countach was slightly less than that - around 1650 < 1700
It was also thought that "in their day" there were almost 200 CT's in the UK.
I wonder how many now? and just how many are road going? I'd say somewhere around 50 are actually still being used.

I think you're about right on the production and in UK totals there Ian but I bet that less than 50 are still here and far, far less than that are used...I thought the total production run for Countach was slightly less than that - around 1650 < 1700

Personally speaking, (since I'm not a duplex or triplex personality so I can't speak for the others!), I prefer an older Lamborghini to have a general patina of proper use - even if that means it's not the kind of 'licked clean by attentive slaves' standard of car that Pebble Beach and the Concorso Italiano attract...
Every unused or over-pampered Lamborghini car adds a certain additional vibration to the planet.
This buzzzzz and hummmm is caused by Cavaliere del Lavoro Ing. Ferruccio Lamborghini rotating very rapidly in his grave in Renazzo...

My Countach is as mechanically perfect as I can get it (better than new in a couple of areas) and to maintain this costs £XXK every year. The interior trim is not perfect but that is irrelevant. The car actually gets used as the makers intended an in my opinion is all the better for it.
Hi production numbers:
LP400 150-157
LP400S 237
LP5000 321
QV 610 (140 series 88.5 with side skirts)
Anniversary 657- 670
Figures dependant on whom you believe!
Total approx: 1982-2000
Total in UK at peak approx 200. Total lambos of all types in Uk 1993 ACCORDING TO THEN LAMBO UK and Del Hopkins: APPROX 300
Estimated write off's/ exports of UK countachs to begining 2008 about 10%
Remember a lot of QV's and anniversarys went to the US with fuel injection. Quite a few fires on these cars their.
Finding an 'original' car is near impossible as over 30 years most of these cars have had some major work or paint done on them, despite what some owners believe! They weren't that well made to begin with!
In the US where they have an obsession with the ' Series 1' cars ie LP400 these are fetching $300,000
The 'series 1/2' cars ie the 400s are lighter due to being more flimisly built! body 1mm compared to 2mm etc. Just dont lean on one! Have a FANATICAL following in places although the general consensus is the late QV's just prior to the 88.5 are the best overall car to drive and live with
Anniversary best built of all cars, but that is true for all late model cars of any type
Styling additions are contraversial and a matter for individual taste hence these being on the lower value of Countachs
i have heard form various sources both here and abroad that it is estimated that there are only about 50 left in the UK! SOBBB
Hope this clarifies things a bit

There are definately not many left! I've heard tell of a guy in North London who used to dispatch them overseas on virtually a weekly basis. I think 50 may be a little toppy as I think there is someone currently shipping them to the Far East with a fair amount of gusto......he certaily sent a couple towards the end of last year. How many are registered with the club? Cue DP!
