If an inspection doesnt turn up anything wrong and the price reflects the mileage, why not

you may want to ask the same question here smile Maseratiforum.co.uk

If the car has a full service history and has been properly looked after and the price reflects the mileage, then I see no reason why not. The mechanicals are actually pretty solid in these cars but you will need to see what has been replaced over the years and take a view, I would imagine that the turbos are probably due for replacement at around about this sort of mileage, although it will of course depend upon how the car has been driven. Don't necessarily be put off by mileage, it shows the car has been regularly driven, which is what these cars need!

You can have them refurbished for approx £300ea, new ones IIRC were around £1200, best bet if you did need to replace them would be to speak to David Askew, Eurospares or Bill McGrath

If looking for prices to recon, use the IHI part number IHI RHF5 smile

You're a brave soul for even considering a 100k+ Maserati! Timing chains should have been done at least once and check endfloat on crankshaft bearing. 3200 engines have failed at a third of this mileage - a friend's let go shortly after he sold it and for all intents and purposes the rest of the car was immaculate.

I think there is a risk buying ANY car that has over 100k on the clock, there will be the inevitable wear and tear and parts will need to be replaced. The history should show what has been done and any purchaser can then take a view on what is likely to need doing in the future. Agree that the endfloat was an issue but suspect if it was going to be a problem it would have happended within 100k. I understand there was a fix for this and if carried out there should be no ongoing problems. If the price is right and the history stacks up, it may be a very good buy but you would need to do so going in with your eyes open!
