The Art Of Horacio Pagani
Discussion
With the new C9 looking like it is going to be close to a million Euros when it is released later this year this may be a good time to invest in a Zonda as I can see the second hand prices going up as they almost look like a bargain. Also the new car is going to be turbo charged which I think is a shame as the engine wont be a screamer like the Zonda.
Here are a few points from a recent interview with Horacio about the new C9:
So main points about Pagani C9 by Horacio Pagani himself:
- Car is going to be launched this fall, towards the end of the year.
- Car will be brand new from the concept to the weight distribution, materials used and dynamic numbers. Inspiration came from modern jets. In total 3770 new parts are used in the C9.
- Engine is built specially for Pagani C9 by AMG: V12 bi-turbo, 6.0 litres, 700 hp, 1000 nm of torque.
- Car will feature brand new carbo-titanium chassis, new innovative suspension, special Pirelli tires made for this car. Car electronics is made by Bosch. C9 will meet all emission and safety standards, US included.
- Car will be built 40 cars per year for the whole world market.
- Estimated price tag is EUR 900.000,00 before taxes. The official price tag will be presented at unveiling event.
- Absolutely different car compared with Zonda, same family, but the different approach.
- There are three C9 prototypes. Horacio describes C9 as a great handling car. But he would not want to share any secrets about active aerodynamics system used on the car.

How many people have seen a Zonda in the wild? Not planned, not someone you know, just luck?

Going back to the original photo at the start of this thread - I think I'd go for the white BMW M1 (up on the ramp) -classic and Iconic !

4 of them - 2 silver C12 S (Scotland - not at the same time), 1 carbon fibre F roadster and a red F coupe (London). The red one might be for sale soon. Also seen another 3 at events (Blue F roadster, R and Cinque coupe).I've seen 2.

In regards to the carbon C12 in SPS with the silver headlights, it is the original press car and has been all over the world. I personally don't think it looks too bad, I don't think it is the best looking one though.
Taken from Autoblog:
During an e-mail exchange with Argentina Auto Blog, Horacio spilled the beans on where the company is headed with a look back at where they've been. Production of the Zonda will end in September, but the R version and special one-offs like the Zonda PS might continue on for another three years in certain markets. Whereas the Zonda development was evolutionary, the C9 that will replace it should be revolutionary. Horacio says the Zonda was basically the same car from start to finish.
"It is simple, with a very light and robust chassis, unique comfort for a car of this type and aerodynamics that offer stability and security," whereas the C9 that will launch at the end of 2010 is, "a brand new car from concept, weight distribution, materials and dynamics: it has 3770 new parts."
Pagani says the new car was designed to "transmit the sensation of a jet at liftoff." It will be powered by a new engine that was developed exclusively for Pagani by Mercedes-Benz AMG. Beneath the rear clamshell will be a 6.0-liter bi-turbo V12 producing 700 horsepower and 1,000 nm (737 foot-pounds) of torque. That sounds a lot like the engine in the Mercedes-Benz SL65 Black, but we'll give them the benefit of the doubt. The C9 will feature a carbon-titanium chassis like the Cinque, forged Avional aluminum alloy suspension, specially developed tires from Pirelli, Bosch electronics and, most importantly to Americans, emissions that should allow it to be sold everywhere, including California. It should also incorporate active aerodynamics that are so advanced, Pagani refused to even address the topic.
Pagani hopes to quadruple production at its new factory, building around 40 cars for their worldwide market. That includes Europe, the U.S., China, Japan and the Middle East. The price, according to the article, is expected to be around 900,000 euros plus tax, but the final price won't be announced until the C9 debuts. We're expecting it to show up at the Paris Motor Show this fall, but certainly wouldn't be upset to see it sooner – in our driveway.
