i took my 360 out for a run on sunday,it wasnt very cold but i had trouble going through the gears, could this be due to the cold weather,i had a new clutch 9000 miles ago,but coming back from the run it seemed ok only done about 10 miles, has anybody else experienced this?

Yip my gearbox can be a little clunky when cold!. I think it's quite common not to be able to get into second cleanly when cold in the manual car.

My 360 spider was always difficult to get into 2nd until warm. The dealer told me to go from 1st to 3rd for first couple of miles. Once warm it was absolutely fine and clutch lasted another 14,000 and was still going strong when I sold it. I think in technical terms it is known as a "design feature"!!

The linkage can get stiff as it's right next to the Cat and gets really hot. I was advised that a squirt of motorbike chain lube straight onto the linkage works a treat.

Is it a manual?

All ferrari manual boxes need to warm up first, they get better after about ten minutes. It's the same on some other cars but to a lesser extent. I've got a 355 and it's more pronounced on that then it was with my 360.

The 360 I had was a particularly bad box, it never really worked and I ended up having it rebuilt. Still wasn't right so I sold it. Apparently there were faults on the earlier cars, circa 2000-02. Sounds like yours is fine though.

The manual box on the 430 is a real delight.

Also, just in case. Make sure the engine oil is up to temperature before using more than half revs. Sorry if that is baltantly obvious.

My spider was 2003 with 24000 when I bought it and 37000 when I sold it. Never missed a beat and I just got used to warming up the box before using it in earnest. Then it was fine and really good gearchange. Clutch was still fine with plenty of wear left in it.

I never had gearchange problems on my late 2002, manual 360, but I had the gear oil changed out to RedLine synthetic and the difference was immense. RedLine everytime for me now.
