Does anyone know this car?

Who would you get or should i say trust to repair damage like this?
What would it cost?

Somebody like Mototechnique, Alsa etc, with a history of working on these cars and access to a full laser jig, if the impact was big enough to bend the offside bumper mount / rear wing and crack the wheel, it's going to need at the very least a thorough check / measurment of the structure and suspension...............and of course new rear wing, radiator, fan, bumper, lights, exhaust, stereo, lots of paint and a myriad of little fixings clips and small trim parts

The only people this sort of salvage makes sense to are the people who can take their time picking up the bits cheaply when they turn up and do at least some of the work themselves......... even then it will be a cat D, with all the joys that brings smile

Andrew, what do you think this would go for?

I wonder how many blue RHD SVs with VT front bumpers are in the UK? There have been pics of a beautiful one posted here before - hopefully this isn't the same car.

Haha, you beat me too it Shan! Dad showed me this one a minute ago. Hopefully Trents will get it gown here if so I will be sure to take alook at that!

For example of blue cycle sales - they had a few cars of recent at Trents in Poole.

Lamborghini LP560-4 new with only a few miles. Fell off a detailers lift before going on showroom floor, wrote off and sold for £68k area.

Ferrari 355 with a collision to the back - minor damage and sold for £20k on blue cycle.

Hi there,

I really hope this is not the car I think it is as I had the pleasure of photographing an almost identical car a couple of years ago and it was stunning. A bit rough round the edges, but a great colour and perfect spec.

Shame if it is.

Regards

Tim

The Answer is one!! The VT bumpers ere not standard.
They only made 9 open headlight RHD SV Diablo's.

The red one for sale on PH is 9 of 9
The wrecked one we are talking about is 8 of 9
And I own 7 of 9!!! (which is believed to be the only other Scuro blue open headlight SV).

There is also an orange one in the Lambo club

However, I do't know the where abouts of the other 5 - anyone on here know?

It'll be interesting to see what it sells for!!

Bryn's spot on, never seen anything that I'd call cheap advertised like this

In the classifieds is a decent looking open headlight SV £72k with less mileage etc, so if we give this car a nominal PAV of £65k, as a cat d knock of 20% (£13k) the car fixed will be worth around £52k,

It needs as a minimum............

  • full re spray at around £6k including prep (£52-6k=£46k)
  • rear bumper £3.5k (£42.5k),
  • rear wing £4.5k (£38k)
  • fitting of the wing and bumper 40 hours @ £45ph (£40k-1.8k=£36.2K)
  • radiator and fan £1100 + £200 fitting (£34.9k),
  • laser jig alignment (just checking no replacement bits) £400 (£34.5k)
  • rear wheel and tyre £1200+£300 (£33.4k)
  • Stereo - £500 (£32.9k)
  • full detail £300 (32.6k)
  • odds and sods (clips, fixings etc) £500 (£32.1k)
  • Recovery and transporter cost (you can’t drive it to the various people to get it fixed) £500 (£31.6k)
Plus of course the cost of the time spent organising all this and the risk that the smack that broke the rear wheel also took out part of the rear chassis / suspension

No doubt it could be done cheaper (if you could wait until the parts come up on ebay, or can do your own body prep its almost doable), my figures are simply based on prices on the web, haven’t seen the car in person etc etc etc

Ian - there is 1 yellow 99 car for sale at Top Gear Cars. I think this was Wazza's old car. Carlo has also had at least one other yellow 99 car for sale before now - see pic in this thread. I assume the 9 cars includes roadsters?

Unfortunately that's what I was thinking. If it is the same one, it looked stunning in your photos

That's the only one in that colour combination I've ever seen pictures of, almost bought it because of the colour combo when I was looking for a Lambo.

I'm sure I'm going to be beaten to death for even suggesting this but you could MAYBE save a couple grand by buying some replica bumpers and spoiler from here
http://www.paralleldesigns.co.uk/

I personally wouldn't do it, but if that car is something you really want to look into doing then it might be worth considering.

Sold for £37500 plus auction fees etc.

It'll probably appear at Douglas Valley at £55k+ later in the week.

Cheers,
Bryn.

Went for a walk through the yard and found these crashed beauties.

Lotus Europa - Roof crushed

Porsche 911 turbo - front end impact

Ford GT40 - Minutes from the compactor

TVR Tuscan - Destroyed body, stripped for use-able parts
