guys I need help. I cant decide between a gallardo, f430 or 360 modena. Now I earn plenty money but not stloads so cost and running cost do matter. Please no1 send the usual 'if ur thinking of a ferrari and ur worried about running costs then its not for you' smile

I just want to know what each will cost me having for 3 years. A modena I can pickup for under 40k with new cambelt and maybe even clutch. I assume depreciation will be small

A f430 can get 4 around 62K. not sure about new cambelt or clutch.

Gallrado 50k. maybe new clutch.

Now am I right in assuming the gallardo will be a hell of a lot more to run than the f430 or modena?? approx extra per year any1? Also i reckon the 430 will depreciate a lot more. Is a new f430 coming out? Obviously the modena is a lot cheaper but I dont want it if it cost a few k per year than the f430.

Thnaks every1

Where ?
Probably possible to find a 20k+, less desirable colour, low spec / non-f1 for a few thousand above that. But seriously doubt many have changed hands for any less than that.

I think i have sold mine for 58k,(money goes into the bank on Tuesday) see they do still fetch good money for the good cars out there, don't listen to all the
sh-t that is flying around about the price of these sort of cars, the person that is buying mine had looked at loads, like he said if you find the right one then its worth paying that little bit more for the right car.

Gallardo's are currently making around 54-65k for an 04 with 24+k miles, the cheapest 430,s are around 65 - 75K for a 06 with 20k. 360's can be as low as 36k for a 99 / 2000 model with anything from 25 - 40 k miles.

With the launch of the 458 italia, 430's may drop a little but due to low supplies during the last couple of years I think they will rebound strongly later in the year, particularly later cars.

The important bit will be working out the running expenses, what type of use will it receive? City / Country, stop/start, high / low mileage etc. Speak to a good independent service outlet who will be able to give you a good idea,

Good luck and nice choice to have to make!

thanks for info guys. I still havent got a clue what to do! I think the 430 is looking pretty sweet still and the gallardo has been remodelled so doesnt look as good now... I still cant find enough info to tell me what will cost more to run. Who reckons a gallardo could be a few k a year more than the 430? I just have a gut feeling but no real evidence. Obviously the clutch is a shed load more but I could get one with a new one in..

oh, it would be 3000 miles a year of city driving in london and another 3000 nice country side roads.

The Gallardo will most likely be the more expensive to run, and yes it is looking "a little older". As a pure driving machine, I personally prefer the 430. I think it will probably be the better long term purchase and the least likely to give you too many unexpected expenses.

Good luck and maybe in the future we could tempt you into an ecurie25 membership!

I have just ventured down this road myself and did muchos homework before the purchase.

The 430 will set you back around £950 for the regular 12 month service. I would recommend buying from an approved Ferrari dealer as you get the Factory warranty which is now a 2 year warranty.

The 100 point check the Ferrari does to gain the warranty will give you an indication on the clutch wear left on the vehicle. Same rule applies to brakes.

If the clutch is over 50% use then I would ask the dealer to replace the clutch in the price. Cost of a new clutch is around £2200 if memory serves me right.

The reason i went for the 430 over the Lambo was down to resell value together with running cost. The resell value is going to hold on these cars over the next 12 to 24 months as the 458 will not make the market in the masses for at least the next 2 years.

Hum... wouldn't be quite so absolute on this one.... hopefully they will not drop as much.... depends how many 458's Ferrari do put out to dealers, I remember people saying that about 355's and they managed to push out a huge number of 360's in the first year and 355's suffered badly! Just go in with eyes open!

thanks again guys. Does any1 know any examples of certain running costs that will b significantly higher with a lambo than 430? The reason I'm swaying more towards the lambo is cos i can get it 10k cheaper than the 430. I also think its gonna hold its value better...
