Hi Guys,

I've been following this forum for a while and I have found it very informative. This is the first time that I post and I would appreciate your advice on the following. I'm looking to get a new car but I can't make my mind up. I live in central london and it would be my only car used as a daily driver.

I am considering the following:

-LP560: my favourite overall (has always been my dream car) but not very practical especially for going to golf
-Granturismo S: looks great, is the most practical, sounds great and is the cheapest. However, I don't find it as "special"
-DBS: practical, looks great, but not as fast as the lambo

I would not be using the car on the track. Also, I haven't tried any of them yet (I'm going this weekend) but I am worried that I wouldn't be comfortable in the gallardo as I'm a big guy.

Thanks for your help!

andrew.

I'd go LP560. Best looking out of the lot and mad as a box of frogs!

Problem is that if you in a position to by the Lamborghini, then if you buy either of the others you will probably sell them 6 months later in order to get the Lambo

But I'm worried that if I do get the lambo, I will realize how impractical it is and have to resell it.

Impractical in what way? You can put your golf clubs on the passenger seat. For the rest, the front lifting option makes speedbumps and the likes easy to negotiate, the car is rather compact so for city driving you shouldn't have an issue...

I went on a 10 day holiday to the south of France in my Diablo, 2 people plus luggage. Nothing really impractical IMHO.

Yes but you'll have experienced it and know what it was like to own it and if you still like it you can keep it.

Far better than buying one of the other two and wondering what if.

Yeah but he'll also loose god knows how much in depreciation.....

From what you are saying (and no i cant afford any of them) you need to compromise, DBS is mightily quick and looks great AND has an element of practicality......

Sod it - just get the Lambo, it's the car you want. You can always hire a locker at the club!

Couple things to bear in mind if you're planning on sing it everyday:
Is there a safe place to park it?
I that's a yes is it something like a Multi story car park? If it is the Lambo might struggle.

Now the Lambo is the fastest, however it does only have 2 seats. The boot in the Gallardo is a complete joke so I'm afraid the Golf clubs will have to go in the passenger seat. There is SOME storgae space behind the seats, but enough for a holdall not a golf bag. Also, the Lambo is 4 wheel drive which given the current state of the weather is a big plus point. The Lambo does have quite hard suspension so you feel every pot hole, but it's not unbearable just a little bit annoying.

I've never driven a DBS but the DB9 is such a nice car to drive. It's very easy and relaxing to drive and does have room in the back. I don't think all DBS' have seats in the back but it doesn't really matter because they are completely useless as seats unless you have small children. They are however handy for putting a couple bags in if you need. I'm afraid though your Golf bag still won't fit in the boot. The DB9 is an absolutely brilliant car to use everyday and is a bit more subtle than the Lambo. The only problem with the Aston is the electronics. If it's being used regularly it will be fine, but if you don't drive it often the battery goes flat very quickly. Once the battery's dead the electric seats stop working, the windows don't close properly and they all need to be reset which is very annoying.

Now I've never driven the Granturismo S but it is stunningly beautiful. It has 4 usable seats and is still a rare enough sight on the road (at least where I live).

As for which one to go for, that's up to you. Go test drive them and see which jumps out at you.

Would you say that the lambo is the only one that I can't park on the street overnight?

They all have epic sound tracks, for me the lambo sounds best though.
When you see and hear a 560 it seems to have the speed to match the sounds, whereas the granturismo S has all the noise but doesn't seem to really go.
The lambo will get more attention and all of it good i would say, people love seeing lambos and the other 2 don't really give that same excitment because there are so many Aston and Maser around.
What they are like to drive and live with i do not know, i can imagine the DBS will cost more to run and will depreciate the most over time?

I'd go for an LP560 ..... Spyder! Or, join a Super Car Club ..... like ecurie25. They have all three cars on the fleet smile

Thought about a Vantage V12 alongside the DBS? Slightly different feel but you still get a great soundtrack; just in a more compact package - the V12 vantage is 2 inches narrower than a Gallardo and about the same length.

There's a 430 that parks on my street, and a DB9 Volante and a Gran Turismo amoungst a number of other rather nice vehicles. The 430 does have a cover over it though.

I've never really figured why you shouldn't, I always park my cars on the street without worrying (not in that league though I will admit), especially given the cost of garaging in London. If you are in a pretty safe neighbourhood, maybe somewhere between South Kensington and Mayfair, or up in Hampstead or something, I'd imagine it's fine and nobody would touch your car. If however you are on the corner next to some pubs and clubs... well different story!

To be honest I think your pride and joy will worry you slightly being parked on the street, whichever car you get.

Or have I misunderstood what you meant?

That is what I meant about parking.

As for the V12V, I don't like the way it looks. I will probably go for the Gallardo if I am comfortable getting in and out of it.
