Reading old threads about Gallardo's and someone asked if the car was "unplugged". Presumably this means to open the valves in the exhaust so the car is louder in the lower rev ranges?

How is this done?

In my current car (V8V) you remove Fuse 22.... But I am tempted by a Gallardo (08 plate) and did find it pretty quiet in the low ranges?!?

Remove the rear middle grill, and pull the two small vacum pipes off the tee piece.

Hi,i`d say yeah, they seem to do this on R8`S as well.
Most seem to change the exhaust for an aftermarket one
to really do the job .

This may help with were the screws are placed , you can see the clips on the bumper where the screws go into .

Of the top of my head this car had 3mm or 4mm allen key bolts holding the grill in place .

Rather than disconnect the vacuum pipes, I found it easier to just unhook the electrical connector from the solenoid valve.

This car was described by the dealer has having a "sports exhaust" and the dealer seemed to know what he was talking about, however he could not tell me what brand it was. Apparently I cannot tell without removing the rear bumper, but by limited looking it looks like a stock (non stainless) box through the grills and it is quiet in the low rev range, so I think it MUST be a stock exhaust?

I want to try unplugging it, but having spoken to Manu at ScuderiaSystems I am mighty tempted by a full Tubi and decat!

Do it!! Do it!! Do it!!

The tubi on mine made my neighbours hate me, my mates's neighbours hate me, my in-law's neighbours hate me, and pretty much everyone whose house I started the car up close to late at night... bloody well worth worth it!!! laugh

Oh, and A) be prepared to stop using your stereo (nothing you play on it will better the sound of a tubi), and B) get used to grinning from ear to ear everytime you approach a tunnel!! cloud9

I unplugged mine and it was ok for a few months, but the Tubi de cat noise is somthing else.
You also loose 30kg and gain BHP and mpg.

Sports Exhaust is a nice way to go - the OE unit is such a big, cheap hunk.... When we developed ours I was blown away how heavy it is - the thing weighed 60lbs as compared to 13lbs for the finished product...

Bit of a boat anchor!!!

I find my 04 with a "RUMORE" MODEL TUBI ,whatever that is,stock cats way to sensible.
Will have to try high flow cats,or decats first.Just dont think this model tubi is
upto the job.
Seems loudish on cold start in my garage, but once warmed up goes to sleep.
Are there other model tubi exhaust for an 04 out there.??
Cheers

Just take the cats off, it will give you the sound you require.

Thanks matey.
Stock cats must be very restrictive.
Off to do a search for decat pipes, not sure how matey my mot
shop will be,so might see about highflow cats.
One way or another its going to get ripped apart.
Thanks again
