On the way home from the NW breakfast meet on Saturday, i saw what i thought to be a Citroen SM come up behind me, a white one - but it passed and was a Maserati.

Just had a look at Wikipedia and nothing obvious on there.

However, google has since revealed that Citroen did a car called the SM Maserati - however, some called it the Quattroporte II.

Anyone any further info?

Someone may know the owner perhaps - he pulled into Charnock Richard services on the M6 Southbound near Preston, approx 12.30pm on Saturday.

To many the Citroen SM was a Maserati. Maserati was owned by Citroen and the car has a Maserati engine. Maybe someone had done a bit of "badge engineering"

Quattroporte and SM are two seperate cars. The SM was a joint venture between maserati and Citroen, using Cirtoen styling and hydraulics, and a maserati engine. A great combination if you geta good one. I dont think the SM had maserati badges, though.
