Hi all,

The other day I went for a "spirited" drive down some of my local country lanes, it was probably no more than 20 miles. By the time I'd finished the 15min drive my brake pedal was going to the floor with little effect on the speed of the car. Two feet on the brake pedal pushing as hard as I could just about got the ABS to momentarily kick in.

The same trip in my Lotus doesn't have any impact on the effectivness of the brakes.

Now, whilst I understand that they are two very different cars, I was surprised that after just 15 mins of country lanes the brakes on the GT were rendered virtually useless.

Is this common and is it accecpted that standard GT brakes are not that good or is there a problem that I need to get sorted?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

For my 2p worth, that doesn't quite sound right. The Granturismo is a reasonably heavy car (~1800kg if memory serves), but 15 mins of fast road use producing that much brake fade seems a bit excessive (to me at least) unless you were properly flogging the bejesus out of it. So other than if you were somehow riding the brakes (were you braking with your left foot?), that's the only thing I can think of. Bear in mind that the lotus will weigh about 40% of the Maser and is built for that sort of thing, so there will be a marked difference i braking performance AIUI. All IMHO of course

Cheers for that, it's now booked in to have the fluid checked/changed and bled.

Whilst I wasn't hanging about I certainly wasn't standing on the brakes too much or riding them, so certainly sounds like something isn't right.
