You really can buy an Aston Martin Cygnet if you don't own another Aston Martin. Well, you can't buy one in the U.S. But Aston is not limiting its leather-lined city car to the already fortunate. But Aston Martin's baby swan will have a price of £30,000 in Great Britain--about U.S. $45,000--which should limit its appeal to only the most well-heeled of car buyers.

Aston Martin made the announcement at its press conference for the Geneva Auto Show (open to the public March 4-14) and said that it hopes for sales to of 2,000 to 4,000, per year which should add to the company's bottom line but also raise lower its average carbon emissions. Aston Martin has been selling about 6,000 cars annually.

As we've noted before, the Aston Martin Cygnet is a Toyota iQ, though with a Aston-esque restlyed nose and more leather inside than a first baseman's mitt--and not a whole lot bigger. The Cygnet will use the 1.3-liter engine standard in the Toyota iQ--so much for that V-12 we were hoping for--with a choice of manual or automatic transmissions. Aston Martin calls it "tried and tested technology".

So what does the Cygnet mean to you? Well, you do have that townhome in London, don't you...?

I think it's bad step for Aston and devalues the brand. However I like the looks of this little thing, mainly as I quite like the IQ. However, I just think it'a all wrong for the brand, and underestimates what real Aston fans are after.

Whatever it costs and brand effect it may have, I just think you'd look like such an arse driving it. I think it might appeal to sort of nouveau riche people who like flaunting their wealth, but those with money and a bit of class and sense to go with it will surely be staying well clear. Expect to see a few round London where Russian oligarchs have bought them for their gfs.

i agree you'd look like a right arse driving it...its cool having a tuning company have a go at the car e.g. brabus smart but its just plain wrong to get a marque like aston stoop this low!

This will be the new Chrysler-300C-with-Bentley-Badges.

Cue people buying Toyota IQs and some bodykit parts and AM badges.

I agree 100%, must be a legacy of Ford ownership, Jaguar devalued with the x-type and now Aston with this I-qbortion

I saw it around a month ago in London, and it looks nice enough. The girls I was with thought it was "cute". When talking to the Aston people they said the reason for it was to reduce the average CO2 of the Aston fleet to fit in with EU legislation, as they don't have Fiat like Ferrari to do this. I'd imagine it will sell well to rich people who have money to use, particularly girls.

It's naff, only a idiot would buy this over a Toyota IQ, you will end attracting unwanted attention to yourself in a busy city centre, which will be made all the worse by the fact that you sitting in a cheap reworked toyota run-about giving off the image your trying to be the Aston Man, in a Car that is totaly not an Aston. It's the 40k equivalent of those my other cars a Porsche stickers tacked on the end of some rusty Ford

Got to say i like it?

But at 30k you'll already own an aston or something else so this will be for the gf or wife.

But is it really just a front end tweek with nicer (sport) seats?
