has anyone gone from a TVR to a Gallardo and do many owners track em?

any feedback would be very welcome, and no the TVRs aren't for sale.

Cheers

Hi Justin,

yeah always fancied a Gallardo and apart from other Trevs it's the only other car i've wanted, I remember reading one of your posts in the TVR forum about how you found the Gallardo a disappointment after the T350 and now you are looking for a Sagaris.

How did you find it on track and did you have to get car set up/upgraded parts or was it fine as standard?

How was it on UK roads ride wise?

How would it be on a long trip around europe, comfy or backbreaking?

Cheers
Mark

Yeah, sold the Gallardo, and currently have a Range Rover Sport. I wouldn't say disappointment as such, but it just wasn't twice the car the TVR was. Well IMO anyways. I'm currently back in the TVR market, but actually buying one might not be for a while yet unfortunately.

Mine was standard, no upgraded parts at all. I didn't think it was that well suited to the track if I'm honest, the brakes weren't up to the job, and it felt quite big and heavy. The power was superb coming out the corners, and the grip was very impressive. I'd imagine a few trackdays in one and the costs would very quickly go up and up.

How was it on UK roads ride wise?

Big, wide, and attracted loads of attention! It felt very wide when traveling down narrow roads, its also very low so sharp gradient changes and it would scuff the front bumper. Handling wise, it was very good. Very planted, felt very safe, but also very dull. The T350 always felt alive, but the Gallardo almost felt like a large heavy TT. I did love it however, just became too much of a chore day to day

Superb I'd imagine, it was great on long smooth roads, and had power/torque everywhere. I wish I'd taken it to Europe.

I did go over to the Ring in my TVR and loved it, no hassle at all, I think the Gallardo would have been better for the drive over. I found it very comfy, and could quite happily spend hours in it. Then again, I have no complaints about the TVR on long journeys.

Few pics wink

In a manual Gallardo can you switch off the traction control (or leave it on), dump the clutch in 1st gear, smoke it off down the road before snatching second and not worry about destroying your 4x4 system and/or clutch system?

Obviously it will be straining the drivetrain, but can they take this in their stride? Or is that a recipe for disaster?

If I have to ease the power in each time I want to stand on it, I guess a Gallardo, despite it's killer looks might not be for me.

cheers

No you cannot, Maybe in the later cars with the shorter first gearing but not in the early cars.

I found this out with a two week old clutch.

Pulled up at the lights 4.5k rpm, dumped the clutch and then floored it only for it to slip all the way to the red line, As you can imaging I did not do that again wink .
