what to look for:

franchise dealer warranty is now 2 years, to buy same for non franchise car is north of 2k per year so factor that into price.

some of the options i can remember:

F1 box
sports seats
daytona seats
carbon driving zone (carbon wheel, instrument surrounds etc) looks much better than standard
upgraded stereo (additional bass speaker between seats)
sat nav (tho its rubbish)
challenge wheels or rear grill (grill is bigger deal than 360 as different bumper)
scuderia shields
electric seats
Carbon brakes were standard around 08
im sure there is loads more.

personally i dont think there are any must haves, the only bit i was glad of on mine was the carbon wheel. I like the cream daytona seats with black inserts.

on buying i would say that pricing is very mileage sensitive and personally i would pay extra 5k to buy from franchised dealer to take into account warranty and less hassle factor

on colours i guess red is most popular but i much prefer black/grey/blue/silver

its a real experience car, lots of fun

on the "negatives" its very wide (parking spaces are a nightmare), gets huge attention so leaving it anywhere is an issue, mine ate batteries (told common to go flat after 2 weeks off trickle charger)

Black/Crema,2000 miles, F1, I was initially going for manual but glad I didn't. Bought private, I usually do. Ceramic brakes feel much better than my GT2's,and for me a defo, just had it lowered, exhaust coming next week, just cant help myself messing but god it looks so much better. Other extras are shields, electric seats, carbon pack, yellow dials, enhanced stereo and sat nav, the last 2 are pretty crappy in my opinion. Have fun.

I bought my F430 Spider in December and It's brilliant. As for options, f1 is preferred for resale, but if you do want a manual don't let that put you off. Parking sensors are very handy, but not a necessity, the standard stereo is ok, but if I was to buy another 430 I would look for the upgraded sound system. Oh and scuderia shields are a must (according to a dealer I was speaking to who at the time was trying to sell a 430 spider without them and said that it would be a harder sale.

If you have any questions feel free to email me.

I think I'll take this opportunity to post a picture of my car. biggrin

Is that TDF Blue or something darker? Whatever it is, it looks fantastic!

The guides say that it books at £97k Retail so you can assume that they will have margin below that! I personally would go in at £91k and see what happens from there.

As for the car itself, as I'd expect with Graypaul, it looks very well (from the pictures) and you could do alot worse than to buy from them.

I'd be shocked if you got that for less than £95k but hey it's always worth a shot! I bought mine from Graypaul and would happily recommend them, didn't have any problems with them at all.

Just emailed him at 91k, will say no but its a starting point. With it not having sat nav, is it a big issue at resale?

Will keep you posted

I don't think £91K is so unrealistic - depends on whether the car is on SOR or a stock car, and if the latter how long its been in stock for. I brought mine with an almost identical spec/price with £6.5K off the price, years tax, gap insurance, and paint protection, so that about £7-7.5K off. Best to try and negotiate in the final week of the month or quarter when they are motivated to shift stock.

btw - don't worry too much about sat nav. You can have it retro fitted (gps aerial and data card) into the existing head unit of the car. Its costly in comparison to a Tom-Tom (£600-700) but you can have it if you want it.

With respect this can hardly be a surprise? This is the season the Ferrari dealers have been waiting for so they're not going to be inclined to wipe almost £10K off the price as the sun comes out. They won't be mulling for long.

Prep costs of these cars (including the 2 year warranty for Ferrari dealers now) are likely to be north of £5K. To make anything like a reasonable return on this car, they'd have had to pay £80K to sell it to you at £91K!

If anyone knows of a car of this age / mileage / spec / provenance for £80K in the trade then I'll buy it, NOW!

We don't make nearly as much money as you'd think....

I'm sure that you don't but using the info that I had at work which I would expect is the same as yours, that car books quite a bit below £90k on a trade in!

It's not a huge surprise that £91k got rejected as I'd have done the same if I'd been the dealer and I never said it would work but the dealer had the car up for sale nearly £3k the wrong side for the customer so it is worth a try and should have at least started the ball rolling regards to getting the car at a fair value for both the customer and the dealer. But that is just my opinion of course.

let me add my penny's worth as someone who owned one. I bought mine for a very good price of 87.5k from a very good indy dealer with 3k on the clock in march 09. 2006 car in unusual but stunning argento nurburgring (silver) with bordeaux. Sold it in feb this year for 80k privately though i could have got 85k now with the sun shining. Trade bids for p/x vs 911 turbo from a different large high end indy and from an OPC were between 65 and 75k. A couple wouldnt bid as it was silver, quote "we are only buying red and grey cars for stock, would take it on sale/return". I would suggest that dealers are making north of 10k mark up on these however their profit im sure would be rather less depending on the work needed. Of course they are also taking an element of risk by spending a large sum on a normally depreciating asset.

back to the car, i really liked mine, only sold it as wanted to drive to work daily in something special which didnt seem fair on one of these (London commute, 45 mins to do 8 miles). i think on the car you have in mind 95k is probably the right price and its probably worth 85k if you tried to sell it to trade.
