A bit tauter and more stiffly set up than the LP560 but not uncomfortable or jarring even on bumpy roads. Steering is quicker and turn in sharp and it is easy to place the car into a corner - and not a hint of understeer though obviously it really needs to be driven on track. The new carbon ceramic brakes are now easy to modulate and not at all grabby.

Despite the wall to wall carbon, alcantara, and go-faster stripes, it doesn't feel as raw as I'd hoped, and not as much of a different animal to the LP560 as the original SL was to the Gallardo IMO. Whilst the steering is nice and pointy, the feedback it gives really feels smothered by the front wheel drive gubbins, and it also seems as though the tyres are dragging, like they were going flat (which of course they were not). For me this car needs to be 2WD. Oh, and although the seats are new, they are still very uncomfortable for me (6 ft 1) - lacking in support at the base of the spine. The passenger appeared higher and even more uncomfortable.

Undoubtedly a gorgeous car, but the steering is not a patch on say a GT3 or RS. No doubt it would be quicker than the Porsches around a track, but I know which car I'd be enjoying more and it wouldn't be the Lambo. Roll on the 570-2/590-2!

Is the Balboni not the spritual SL.... rear wheel drive, manual box, less weight etc etc... Not quite sure I can see the point of this new 570...

Sorry, it might be my extreme ham-fistedness in the way I write! I was trying to describe a small rubbery dragging feeling through the steering wheel when you turning it, a bit like when you sit in a stationary car and turn the wheel, the first thing you feel is a kind of rubbery sticking feeling. Hmmm, not sure I am making this any clearer! In summary: I didn't really like the steering, despite it's quickness and accuracy smile

Balboni should have been but its seems slower around the track than the standard LP560. SV is supposed to take on Ferraris 430 Scud and Porsche GT3RS.I also believe the Balboni comes with a great "comfort" spec.

I believe SV's performance figures are Ferrari 458 quick wgich is good considering the 458 is one of ferraris finest.

The dealer principal mentioned the SL has put in blisteringly quick track times, faster than LP560, Balboni, and the LP670SV. I can believe it, especially on a fairly twisty circuit. However, based on my hour and a half on nice mountainy roads, I'd get out of the car feeling a bit short changed. Mind you, I thought the 458 was like that too (but with a much shorter time behind the wheel); Marcus had more time in the 458 and then a Scud, and much preferred the Scud.

Prices out here for a new SL are around CHF 360k, a lightly used Scud 240k, a reasonably specc'ed 458 330k. A no brainer IMO and I don't really like Ferraris...
