Waking up the lions
Discussion
Don't really get it.
Part of me thinks thats pretty irresponsible, and the people who let them in there should be a little pissed off.
They're majestic animals, not something to tease like that. Plus they may have pretty sensitive hearing, and that was a pretty loud Diablo.
Probably get flamed for saying this, but i don't really give a fook...

I was at this event and the video doesn't really show the reaction we saw.
Firstly, the keepers explained that the lions enjoy the sound of a big engine and react well to it and were happy for us to see what would happen.
Prior to the bit you saw in the video they were totally uninterested in anything, whereas once the lambo came past they got up to investigate (twice, they were very intrigued when it came back to the parking area)
It's just a bit of fun and as i said we were told beforehand that the Lions enjoyed the interaction. naturally they wouldn't want it happening all the time but a few seconds causes no problems - there were light planes buzzing around above us all day making a lot more noise, they also had parachutists in the vicinity - it would have been interesting if one of them had gone off course!

Ah okay, gotcha. I think it was just a knee-jerk reaction earlier.
If it was all sanctioned, and actively encouraged then what a perfect car to do it with!
Exactly what Harsh said, we were encouraged by the keeper, on a cooler day when a noisy bike/car (the keeper wasn't sure which / what) starts up in the industrial estate behind them they will roar backIf it was all sanctioned, and actively encouraged then what a perfect car to do it with!
I can promise you we would never be party to anything that would cause any animal any distress whatsoever.

As Harsh and 13th have said, all with the keepers consent and here's a pic of the lions before the car went past (and not long afterwards too)

It's to do with the tone of the engine - the keeper said they would follow the sound of the car/bike as it went along the road parallel to them but other noises wouldn't get a 2nd look (1st look is to make sure it's not something to eat/fight or .... )

Although I think he is suffering enough, he wasn't just sunburnt he was positively glowing by the time he left us on Sunday
