Hey there guys,

I've got a bit of a tricky situation where I don't really know what the next step (if any) is to take. It's about my black 2003 Modena.

I had my car transported down to the Leicester area to have some warranty work done to it, a few further bits and bobs and also wanted to get my front bumper resprayed with a clear protective film installed on it.

I'm based in Glasgow, so I wanted everything done in a oner before I went down to collect the car. Everything was done at the garage, and the wrapping company collected the car on the Friday to wrap the bumper. I collected the car directly from the wrapping company (Totally Dynamic - Leicester) who informed me that the paint job on the front bumper was a really poor colour match with the rest of the car (when seen outside in the sun.) Nevertheless; they had proceeded onto wrap the bumper. Ben (the wrapper) told me that the clear film that they installed actually makes the front bumper colour match better!

Now, I am left with a car which *may* have a very poor colour match; but it has a wrap installed on it. I know that the wrap does change the colour slightly and it does look different at the moment, how much that is due to the wrap or the underlying mismatch - I am not entirely sure. The fact that the wrapping company said that the film makes the bumper match better is really worrying me.

I taked with the bodyshop company (that the garage subcontracted the work through) but he just stated that you are never going to get a 100% colour match and there will always be a mismatch unless you spray the entire front end. Is this true? I've always been told that black is a easy colour to match.

Now; I don't want to take the wrap off, because if I take it off; it'll cost anoither £250-300 to get it re-installed. But I'll probably need to take it off to prove that the colour match is not up to standard. Furthermore; I don't want to transport/drive the car all the way down to Leicester again if there is a mismatch because with that money I can just have it resprayed locally!

What would you do? I don't want to be left out of pocket in this (ie be hit with transport costs etc...)

Cheers

If I were you I'd have a look at the car yourself out in the sunlight. If it looks fine to you with the protective film on I'd just leave it as it is.

If you are looking at getting it done again (properly) and locally, I can 100% recommend Buchans in Rutherglen for the work- the owner has a Gallardo and whenever I am in they have had Ferraris, Bentleys and other high-end stuff in getting paint.

Plain and simple, get it resprayed as it should be the same colour, fact. Have the wrap removed carefully so as not to let the sprayer know and take it back to be redone as you dont pay for a respray only to get it in the wrong shade or whatever.

Looking forward to seeing you around Glasgow
