Just thought i would post this picture of the V12 engine that will be powering a single fuel pump, that will feed a rocket. The rocket will be the secondery engine on Richard Nobels Bloodhound SSC land speed car. He is hoping to acheve the majic 1,000 miles an hour in 2013.
I was at a Richard Noble lecture along with my son yesterday, and i though you might like to see the V12. I thought it was quite small for its power. I along with many did hear the rumour that the SCC was going to use an Enzo engine, but this came to nothing.

You got to be kidding me. Seriously they're using that for a fuel pump? What about the weight? Does it really need to be that powerful?

Where was the lecture, sounds like it would have been really interesting. Is he doing any more?

Hey Jonty, he is doing a few up and down the country. You will have to check out the website http://www.bloodhoundssc.com/. I went because my son is studying electrical engineering and aerodynamics from next year. The rocket lecture went over my head but not my sons hehe
Back to the engine, the Euro fighter jet engine will power the car to 800mph, then the V12/fuel pump will power up to feed the 18in diameter hybread rocket. That will then power it to 1050mph to be exact.

I was at a charity lunch recently and I was sat on the same table as Andy Green (the driver) and from what I remember, the power needed to get to the 1,000mph+ mark is beyond anything anyone's heard of before. Last record was something like 760mph so they're adding nearly a third again!

Aren't they using two of those? At a time?

A lot of the design work is being done (literally) down the road in Swansea Uni. Should pop down and have a mooch about
