Advise on 612 - Electrics gonne babanas after jump start..
Discussion
Need help on behalf of a friend, who owns a 612.
After a long time in the garage the battery went flat. The car was jump started, but all the electric warning lights are now flashing - gearbox, suspension, etc.
It was suggested to disconnect the battery and try starting the car again (to reset the ECU). Can anyone give any pointers if this sounds like an easy fix? Would be good to avoid taking it to a garage as the car is located in Athens, Greece, and there aren't many Ferrari specialists around..
Thanks in advance..

Ferraris are not big in Greece. The only option is to ask the dealers, who are bound to say bring it in to have a look and end up charging a fortune for what could be a 5 min job..
As for the trickle charger, thats on the shopping list..
Take the top fuse panel from the battery, this is done by undoing the clamp that retains the battery, sliding the battery out, taking the top black fise cover off, then loosening the 10mm clamp round the positive terminal, and the screws that go into the red retainer. check the 3 fuses ontop, the largest is, iirc, 100amp, then 2 50amp. check these as this is the most common issue when jumpstarting. As for the trickle charger, thats on the shopping list..
Good luck

PS: PLEASE MAKESURE THE ISOLATOR SWITCH IS IN THE OFF POSITION BEFORE DOING THE ABOVE.
Thanks for that... Just tried it, the fuses are OK (one is 100, the other 75 and the third 50 amp - not sure if this is important, but in the centre fuse (the 75amp one) one of the nuts is missing..). When the ignition is turned on, and before we start the engine we get Suspension, CST, ABS and Engine failure messages on the screen. Also, the fuel cover will not open either when I press the button, so it must be something wrong with the electronics.
The car has been stationary for the last 4 months, and before that it worked fine.
Any other ideas?? Thanks in advance...

sorry should have completed the post
If you used plain leads then there is a possibility that you may have damaged the ECU. Had a bad experience with this on a BMW 5 series when I had a garage some years ago and had to buy a new one.
Is the ECU isolated or protected by a separate fuse? If not I regret that my guess would be ECU damage.
Sorry to suggest obvious things, but is there a way to reset the ECU specified in the handbook? Or a master reset for electronics? If not bearing in mind it's a 612 ie a £200,000 car new wouldnt it be simpler to call in the dealer in case you do cause damage which may fry some elecrics which would then be seriously expensive?
Sorry not to be more helpful

OK, nothing serious, the body computer (NBC) justs needs re-setting. simply disconnect the battery for 24 hours, charge the battery removed from the car if you can, and re fit. If the lights persist, you will need an SD3 reset. (SD3 is Ferrari EOBD tester)The car has been stationary for the last 4 months, and before that it worked fine.

Also, not sure if you are aware, the emergency release for the fuel flay is in the boot, left hand side incase you are looking in, and up, it is a red chord, not sure if you are needing to put fuel in.

Thanks - I will try disconnecting the battery. But doesn't the isolator switch does pretty much the same thing?
There is almost a full tank of fuel, but good to know the emergency release..!
Ye, isolator does the same thing. If you have already tried that then I wouldn't waste my time, just jump in the car, drive to the dealer, get them to do the reset and drive off. If the car still has warranty, don't mention the jumpstart, it the car does not have warranty swallow the cost of 0.5hours labour. The car is fine to drive, all that happened is it gets its knickers in a twist and simply needs resetting. There is almost a full tank of fuel, but good to know the emergency release..!
