I have no idea, but if I were selling a car like that (in fact, any car) I would give potential buyers confidence by not just sticking the advert through Babelfish for overseas buyers.

A bit embarrassing to employ car sales people that a not capable to translate an advert using dict.leo.org ...

Years ago, these people would work in a factory, but the jobs have moved to Asia. Today, they become assistant sales gimps. frown

Not sure I get what all the complaints are about to be honest- if you were German looking to buy a cheap LHD car from the UK, would you expect the salesman to speak perfect German and to have all their adverts in 3 languages?

Do you know anything about Auto Salon Singen and how huge it is? Google them and have a look at their website and the quite incredible stock they have for sale. Then you might begin to understand that they probably don't have time to manually translate every car ad online. Autotranslation is a pretty quick and effective way to broaden your audience, when I guess that most of their sales are to Germans and Swiss, along with a few very very wealthy international collectors.

I'm just off to browse their website and see if there is a single car I can afford!

Don't get me wrong - it's a professional standard to be able to read and write English in Germany; when you have finished school, that is. I had to read and understand Shakespeare, Dickens, H.G. Wells, etc. when I was at a regular school in Frankfurt.

A company as big as the Auto Salon should be able to provide someone to maintain their online publishing in English; especially since they have the pretension to sell internationally.
