Gallardo Cat Failure and Enginer re-builds

Was at the supercar clinic recently and they said thay have had a couple of enginer rebuilds due to the cats failing and as the gases are re-circulated into the engine for emissions the ceramics ruin the engine. Anyone heard of similar problems?

The obvious solution seems to de-cat it. Has anyone come across a good conversion?
