Great noise but surely the engineers could do something about seeing those peashooter pipes inside the exhaust...looks so naff on a California never mind a GTO.

Its good, but sounds a bit too clinical and artificial for my liking.

But then again after hearing this I can't find anything to compare to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foDcLUhUKqI

Hardly a revelation is it? Since it says the type of exhaust in the description.

I still think it sounds quite muted. What would it sound like without those stupid valves?

I was also at the Goodwood FOS. I would say that the 458 sound over shadowed the GTO by quite a margin as they went up the hill.

I honestly don't know why people eulogise about how these cars sound; it's completely synthetic and has little tonal quality. Plus, they're really not very loud. We watched the modern road cars (inc. 458 & 599GTO) go up the hill at Good wood on the Friday and they all sounded like a bloody Mercedes, even the Caparo. Totally underwhelming.

That Countach is more like it, but a Tubi'd 355 or an early 360 blows them all into the weeds. Even with Tubi-style's help, these current cars won't sound as good as a mid 90s flat crank plane V8.

Nothing would beat the sound of an/your F50 though Kevin. A mighty sound indeed smile
