Buying Murcielago - advice please LCUK members

I'm getting close to making an offer on this Murci roadster - www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1804105.htm
The (Ferrari) dealer is in Exeter and reselling on behalf of private owner, I went to see the car last week. I should add that I'm no mechanic...
The car seems 100% apart from some detailing which they will carry out prior to sale along with a dealer service and two new back tyres. They are also including some kind of warranty from Warranty Wise (details tba).
I've been thinking that I should pay for someone to look the car over before I take the plunge - can anyone on the forum recommend a company or someone who'll take this on?
All advice relating to this much appreciated!

Hi,
I know this car well and also have one myself. I'd say it's a beautiful example of what will become an iconic car and most probably the most undervalued (especially when compared to a 640 version) lambo on the market at present. The roadster has some incredible lines and a shape sleaker than a coupe. It's also much rarer. The manual gearbox will also be a plus I reckon in years to come. This particular car is also the right colour. I'd quite like the sports exhaust this car has too.
Regarding inspection, I'd recommend Mike Pullen of Carrera Sport, or HR Owen (though they'd be expensive).
I did 500 miles in my car last week alone after 2 years of ownership. It's an addictive car to drive.

Hi, I would defo get someone to look at it first - although not sure whos down in that part of the country and will cost you an arm and leg to bring it up to london to get an inspection there.
Things to look out for if you do not get someone to look at it - as these may not be covered with a warranty:
-Clutch (get a feel on the bite point - a high bite means you'll be shelling out for a new clutch sooner vs later)
- Lifting system (make sure it works once you press the button...)
- Throttle valves (does it rev/hunt without presing the accelerator - if it does then you may need to change a throttle valve or just need cleaning)

Good to see you are looking at buying a Roadster - I have owned a Murci coupe, and now a LP640 Roadster. I love the Roadster but love more the way it drives. Its a lot more refined than the Murci. Don't get me wrong the Murci is an awesome car just check the valves, etc like others have mentioned.
Only downside is it has taken me 6 months to work out the best way to quickly fit the roof. Sadly I now have to repair the bits I've broken learning!!
Its actually not a bad hood once you have sussed it out.

I know the car and the dealer who are selling it,
I have my car serviced by them and can't recommend them highly enough. My car comes back from them in perfect condition ready for me to use it in the way i like.
I know the owner too who is a real enthusiast and well known on here as well.
If i was in the market for one, this would be the one i would buy on those two facts alone.
