When is a Ferrari considered to be 'high mileage'?
Discussion
Please don't slap me down for starting another Ferrari/mileage thread. I know high mileage on these cars hurts resale etc. So at what point is a Ferrari high mileage. Let's start with my own 360. It's 5 years old and has done 19000 miles. Hardly a taxi at around 4500 miles per year but I'm sure there are those folk who would regard it as a high mileage example. Actually I don't. I think it's average.
I'm just curious to know what others regard as high mileage. I bought my 360 to drive regularly and do drive it most days though not far as I live close to work. It would be useful to know if there is a point beyond which it's considered high mileage.

My F355 has done almost 64000 miles in its 14 years of faithful service.
That averages at only 4500 miles a year.
I am not too fussed at whether other people consider this 64k miler to be a low/ average/ or high mile example.
I bought it to drive hard, on- and off-track, as the maker intended, and it is going to naturally, put on more miles as a result.

My 97 355 has about 40k on it now (bought it with 31k 12 months ago)
Guess it is considered above average/high mileage, but don't really care - where is the point in owning it if I don't drive it.
I agree. What is the point of owning such a car if you don't drive it regularly. Actually it's nice to hear that people do drive these cars more than once a week. Hell, I'm planning a driving holiday to Europe soon which could pile another 2k on it. It's just a bit of a shame that there is this mileage stigma attached to certain marques. It's not as if they fall apart after 40k. Like someone else said, if properly maintained they are no different to any other car. Not putting miles on your Ferrari is like not having sex with your Girl Friend so she'll be more desirable to her next Boy Friend.
i think that deserves a little

So Andrew. you still not driving your car then?

My local Ferrari dealer (Dick Lovett - Cardiff) considers anything over 5k miles per year as high, to the extent that he won't generally take a car into stock with anything over that average.
I have to say I find this attitude ridiculous, especially on the more modern Ferrari's that are clearly perfectly capable and reliable as daily drivers. For this reason I drive a R8!
