laser detectors / lazer difusers
Discussion
i have used a diffuser in the past, a snooper sld 920, tbh i wouldn't want to get caught with it activated, with the snooper a buzzer sounds as the lazer hits you then you switch it off with a dash mounted control and hope to slow down when they zap you again, i'm sure it works but i just got spooked, i think the penalty for getting caught interfering with police equipment is hefty.
ps i have an unused one for sale;)

A mate had one & believe me the Snooper SLD920X works, 5 occasions over 3 years. Not anymore though, he's taken it out & calmed down, dont want to push it & get caught with it. Still, zapped 5 times ranging from just slightly over the limit in a 30 zone to over double the limit on an A road, thats at least a ban plus 3 points plus fines... I think it served its purpose

Clever! So even in the worst case scenario, you don't get caught doing stupid MPH but something still frowned upon lower down the scale. They'll probably think the equipment glitched for a moment then they'll get a reading eg 88mph and shrug their shoulders. Like it.andysv said:

I thought Id advise on my latest purchase and warn others the potential problems I encountered
The snooper 3zero
what a waste of money!!!
1 trip to wales and I had 32 false laser alarms, I rung snooper and discused the false alerts andmy conserns with the volume being too low on all the gatzo or average speed warnings and the display wasnt very bright.
Their answer was my imagination and I need to try it in another car?? They also suggested I was too mount the detector in the shade and mount it off the dash as the speaker is underneath.I was supprised as the dash mount is the one they supply and if its too close to the dash to hear the warnings why on earth dont they make it taller or the speaker on top. I also advised that it was already mounted in the shade and if i moved it any further from the windscreen it would not detect anything.. He wasnt interested at all..Very unhelpful and short.
The unit was returned in the end as the false warning proved the unit was faulty as we used more than one detector in the car via the company in Manchester I bought it from and they replaced it, as they found the sensor for the laser faulty, but its sat in the cupboard now as if I cant read the display or hear the warnings , what is the point of having it.
Im yet to have an answer from them regarding the display and volume of the old unit and if they found a problem with the old one, that was 5 emails and 2 weeks ago..nothing. Im now using my old snooper which it was replacing and will never recommend snooper to anyone as their customer service is disgusting.

I used to sell a wide range of speed camera alert systems (eg road angel) and laser diffusers (jammers).
For static cameras, GPS based speed camera alart systems as the most effective defense such as Road angel etc. However, these days most sat navs have a camera database included anyway, so the dedicated camera alert systems are not as popular. Benefits - no false alarms Negatives - cannot warn about handheld radar guns or mobile camera vans (unless unit has known mobile sites recorded in the database).
In my opinion most drivers know where fixed cameras are located, it is the mobile vans (using laser) and handheld laser guns which are the biggest threat to your license.
Beware any conventiona radar/laser detectors that claim to detect laser guns. This is simply not possible. In the unit does alarm, it is too late, your speed has been clocked.
The only defence against laser is a laser diffuser or jammer. (these are often sold as remote garage door openers so as to offer some legal confusion !)
extract from LRC 100 manual " When the LRC 100 acquires a laser gun, it immediately returns a 5 second signal, gives the driver a visual warning, and emits a 100dB audible alert. For 5 seconds, the laser gun's display will not produce a speed reading, leaving enough time for the driver to check, and if necessary adjust, vehicle speed safely. Then, the diode shuts down, and the diffuser acts as a passive detector for the next 60 seconds while you clear the laser speed trap. After recycling, the LRC 100 is ready to do its job again."
BE WARNED !!! it has been suggested if the laser jammer deploys and the mobile camera van records a "error" reading (ie the jammer has worked and speed recorded), a tag marker is electronically recorded on your DLVA car data file. Get 2 or more "tags" and brace yourself for a police officer to pay you a visit to the cars registered address asking why on more than one occassion a camera van has been unable to record your speed.
