I had an 06 one
What do you want to know?
Awful gearbox, sounded nice, thirsty as hell, lovely in the back (limo-like), few little electric niggles (always expensive to put right), gets quite a bit of admiration on the roads, quite nippy
Just wanted to talk to some ZF and duoselect owners and see what general consensus is. I guess there will be loads of threads on the topic anyway. Will drop you an email re your thoughts. What do you want to know?

I ran an '08 QP GTS for a year and really rated it. It had the ZF auto box which worked very well although I will always prefer a manual. In my time nothing went wrong or fell off and I reckon the build quality was as good if not better than most of the Germans, I had far more issues with my M series Bimmers than any of my Maseratis!
I think the consensus is that the car suits the auto box better but Duoselect is probably more sporty but has the clutch wear issues that the auto will not have. I also reckon that the ride in the GTS with the fixed rate damers, as opposed to the Skyhook system on the other models, is far superior it really did handle incredibly well for such a big heavy car.
Mine came with a 3 year warranty and 3 years free servicing from new so depending on how old a car you were looking at it may not cost that much to run, other than the normal consumables. Hope this helps but let me know if you need any further info.

I got a really good trade in deal for my 4200 if I purchased the QP which the dealer had instock but the car I really wanted was the GranTurismo S, which at that time was not yet in production. I did a deal with the dealer which gave me a guaranteed trade in value for the QP in a year's time and put in my order for the GT-S. Given the financial mess the world was in last year (still is) the trade in value which at the time didn't seam overly generous was suddenly about £15k over trade in value. I would have been mad not to take it but had the trade in not been so good I would have kept it longer and probably bought a second hand GT-S sometime later. Really liked the car, although the 4.7 is now the one to have.
Colossus, you and I having a conversation sounds like it's the billing for a WWE fixture - "Todzilla Vs The Colossus"...
I had the opportunity to drive all the models at Chobham last year after being invited at the Revival - agree, the 4.7 was much nicer than the 4.2. Would ultimately like to get a Quattroporte S in the next few years - admittedly I'll be in the 2nd hand market though, unless my recent promotion includes a nice pay rise (which it doesn't yet...)

I suspect the outfits would put most people off!!
Having driven most of the QP versions I would strongly recommend going for the GTS version, the ride and handling were so much better in that to the rest of the range. I think it was mainly down to the fact that the GTS uses fixed rate damping whereas the other models use the skyhook system. For a car that big it really was very impressive. Best of luck and they are a cracking used buy, just make sure it has been properly looked after and you should be fine.
