Hi Guys,

Not sure if this is the right place, as this is my 1st post...

Thought I would share these pics with you of the very 1st Oakley Design 458 I was luckily enough to see and sit in when I was at Silverstone on Monday! It was there for a photoshoot...absolutely love it! and what a top guy Jon Oakley is who I was fortunate to meet there!

Cheers,
Kieren

Not too keen on the mirrors of front splitter, but the rest of it looks great; that Carbon engine bay is just awesome!

Has he done the carbon roof properly now or is it still looking like a 3 year old on acid did it?

Also isn't this the oakley design who screwed quite a few people over, so the company 'sacked' jon and is nothing to do with him anymore?
The same jon oakley who was a porsche test driver but no-one could find anything relating to that?

The 458 is an ugly car in my opinion.
This doesn't look any better.

Its just a chavved up attempt to find people with more money than sense. In a world where Gemballa and others have sold cars I'm sure they'll find some mug to pay for it. Remember speaking to Oakley a few years ago about a Carrera GT they had for sale when I was looking around - i thought they were joking when they quoted a price. Same school of thought as "ask a million for an Enzo and it means Enzo's are worth a million". Insanity.

Hey,

don't get me wrong, I'm all for the detective work - it's helped me out on several occasions!

Looking on the video at the specs for this modified car, 0 - 60 in 3 seconds, surely that puts it ahead of the far more expensive Enzo Ferrari? Has anyone seen them head to head?

I note from the promo video for the Ferrari 458 Italia that it seems to keep up with the modified Ducati 1198 which would have a 0 - 60 time of around 2.5 seconds in the dry.

I have got to admit that the car looks pretty nice though. Is that important? The black wheels make all the difference to the look of the car. I've seen the standard cars in white before and they normally look hideous.

Promo Video can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpuRN0m3w1g

What would you rather have? This or an Enzo?

Hey guys...I'd thought I'd pop back on - I was just leaving everyone debate my original post...I certainly didn't expect quite an onslaught towards Jon and the company (quite funny for my 1st post on PH!!) :-D I just happened to be there when it was being photographed - I personally love the car and Jon seemed like a tidy guy, although by the sounds of it most have totally different views.

Very odd my double appears to be on here lol...hi Kieran!! smile I also used to work in Reading for quite some time...so even more strange!!

Anyway...I'll leave the mixed views continue...:-D
