I have just had a renewal quote through for my Audi R8 V10. The price with the current insurance company has increased by over 100% and the best quote from the broker is 70% over last year!

Any good brokers you can suggest!!!

What! How the hell can they do that, Did you phone them? What did they say? Now worried as I'm with Admiral, any reason you can think of why they'd increase it so much?

John.

Try Nowell & Richards on 0845 094 2303 - I renewed my F430 with them earlier this year for less than £850 !
Fully Comp, mileage limited to 6K P.A.

Article in the Sunday Torygrapgh suggested that the use of online comparison sites was to blame.

As people jump ship so often, there is no incentive to stay, hence renewal quotes are generally poor.

Apparently, there has been a huge increase in the number of people under-specing their insurance (online tools make this easy according to the article) and therefore insurance fraud is on the increase...

I ended up paying just below £1200, 7000 miles a year and business with the same company but through a different broker! Cant understand why somebody who advertises on PH(or used too) has become so uncompetative!

Yep, that's what I was thinking, admiral for this year on my 430 was £590 for the year with no milage limitation.

I had a quote from admiral but was concerned with the level of cover on a 100K car. Maybe just me (and I am being a bit stupid) but quotes that cost the same as a 520d make me wonder!

Just saved £1000 a year moving from an Admiral multi car to Swiftcover for two everyday cars and a classic car policy for the Merc.

I won't be insuring again with Admiral, or any of their group of companies.

F430, X5 and RR on an Admiral multicar policy. Can't remember the figures, but it just seems to get cheaper and cheaper, even after pranging the RR. Great service too, worthwhile giving them a call.

What was it about the level of cover you were concerned with? Genuinly interested incase I've missed something.

Just popped over from the Porsche forum as a friend directed me to this thread.
I believe that they won't guaranty OEM parts for repairs on cars over 3yrs old. However they do say that you can get three quotes from garages if you choose not to use their suggested bodyshop and they will decide which one to go with as long as it is deamed "reasonable". Therefore take it to 3 places that use OEM parts and hope they cough up.
I am looking at reinsuring my 996 GT2 and the Admiral multicar with a 535d and smart is £1350. Has anyone had to make a claim with Admiral on a car >3yrs old. Was there much hassle in getting it done at a place of your choice?

Try Elephant Insurance.

My Murcielago is insured for c.£850 fully comp with wife as additional driver (who had 2 crashes earlier in the year because she a cr*p driver).

Note, dont expect Elephant to pay out if you have a crash/claim. Youll need a Barrister from the best bar in London to get money out of them - but thats half the fun....
