Regular Challenge Wheels of HGTE Wheels?
Discussion
Hi guys, I've been offered a good deal to buy a set of brand new HGTE wheels for my 599...I personally think that it give the car a fresher look given that the regular 599 have been around for quite a long time now and almost every single car is fitted with Challenge Wheels.
But I'm still not 100% convinced about the look...what do you guys think?
The problem is I know already that if I'll buy these, the exhaust will be next and then grill etc etc...so it could be a quite expensive upgrade!
No idea either if these options will be counted when I'll have to sell the car...it will be very annoying to see her trading like a "regular" 599 if I'll have grill, wheels and exhausts installed.
Cheers,
Max

i think you should bide your time and get a set of GTO wheels when they become available But I'm still not 100% convinced about the look...what do you guys think?

then your car would be special!Don't like that...I mean HGTE wheels are selled by Ferrari as a partial HGTE upgrade togheter with the updated software, bigger antiroll bars and shorter springs. So these are available to every 599 owner as a factory upgrade. GTO wheels should stay specific to GTO...as an example, never liked the look of a 430 with Scuderia wheels.
Not a fan of the HGTE wheels personally, when I drove a 599 HGTE back in Feb or so, there was also a regular 599 floating around...had a good look at both and didn't like the HGTE ones as much in comparison. But that's my personal opinion so obviously naff all use really!
But, if everyone is "upgrading" as you say, then your car will actually end up being more special and rare if it doesn't have the upgrade.....
Finally, unless the wheel weight/dynamics are exactly the same as the original (highly unlikely I would have thought) then unless you buy the whole HGTE upgrade pack as it were, you're handling will likely be slightly off afterwards. Cars suspension systems are tested with the specific wheels they come with, so if you go messing with the wheels and nothing else, you'll be undoing Ferrari's work on making your particular suspension/wheel combo work in harmony to give best performance. It may be purely academic in terms of how much effect it may have on the road, but for me at least it would be the principle of the thing
