Selling my lambo via dealer or private?
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I am selling my gallardo, what is a reasonable commission for a dealer to take on sale or return? I can put it on for pretty much the best offer for an 04 as a private sale on autotrader or pistonheads but I know people prefer to buy from dealers in general and maybe they can get me a better price.
Any advice welcome.

I agree with above re likely fees. Carry out your research before leaving your car with a dealer - there are quite a few horror stories. There are quite a few specialist dealers who have customers looking for particular models so you may be best off starting by calling a few and seeing if a painless and fast deal can be done with any of them without having to leave your car in a showroom somewhere.
I personally prefer to buy privately (bought first Ferrari from a dealer, current one privately) as you get a good feel for the person selling the car and often get more history with receipts etc rather than just a stamped service book.
From a selling perspective it is more difficult particularly when it comes to test drives and insurance as very, very few punters will be insured fully comp on cars they don't own. You will also be lucky not to get time wasters which can be irritating.
I've sold an SLK55 AMG and an Elise this year and both were sold privately and without too many issues. Good luck!
