Hi All,

I love Ferraris, although I am aways slightly unimpressed by their performance when competing at sprint/speed hillclimb events....

One of my competition cars is a Peugeot 205 GTI (dont laugh!) which can and does take strips off any Ferrari at sprints/hillclimbs.

So what circuits would a car such as a Ferrari excel? I have no knowledge of these outside of the world of hillclimbs, although on a wider faster circuit, with fewer corners the humble 205 would be eaten a live..

thanks

Hmm, after that post I think I may have to swap the 355 for something a bit faster!

Is your 205 for sale?

Have you thought that a Ferrari is quite expensive, and if you crash it will cost lots to put back together again, hence, some owners may not be going flat out.

This. Give an indipendant driver your car and a 430 which he has no worry about crashing, I have a feeling the results would be very different.

My first car was a 205 GTI - it all went downhill from there: Astons, Ferraris, Porsches.......

Most Ferraris aren't meant to be track cars; too expensive to repair if crashed and will need extensive maintenance if tracked hard. Plus, there are plenty of cars that will out-accelerate and out-corner them for a fraction of the price.

They are built for the road and the overall experience, which they excel at.

Peugeot 205 T16 (worth around £500,000 now)
Bugatti Veyron
Radical
Rolls Royce Phantom
Some form of an electric....

So there, no supercars (Veyron = Ultra car) and track cars, and a luxury car....

No Ferrari or Range Rover.....dont want to look like a pimp, drug dealer or 21 yr old footballer....
PSML you really don't like Ferraris do you. I'd be surprised if you get any supercar owning customers taking you for joy rides around Oxfordshire and pay you for the privilege.

Anyone that actually competes at/or attends Sprints and Hillclimbs will understand that the statement is absolutely true. However this is predominantly a function of the type of venue, and of the rules. The majority of Ferrari's hillclimbing in the UK are standard-ish V8's wheras the majority of hothatches hillclimbing in the UK are properly tweaked and, above all, light.

Guys (and probably Girls)

I am really sorry if I have offended anyone!!!!

Look, I am not sure if any of you know what a hillclimb looks like....It is not a circuit. But yes the 205 is quicker (and yes the Ferrari drivers do drive them very hard)

Below is a link with a friend of mine driving:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2jIvgMbm5Y (650bhp / 450kg!!)

See how twisty it is?

So why do they enter the Ferrari British Hillclimb Championship? In terms of hillclimbing the meaning "taking strips off" means at most 3 or 4 seconds....A very well driven 430 with a skillful driver with a few years experience would get within .3 of a second...

I have a Porsche 996...yes I have driven a Ferrari (F430) and did not like it as 1. the build quality was naff, and 2. at 6ft 4" I am too tall..

I did sound amazing mind!!!
