Went to my mates house today and the house opposite had a classic car and the man withh son were stuggling to push it up the drive, i went to give a hand and as i got closer suddenley noticed the 4 exhaust at the gto on the back of this beautiful car, i asked the owner of the car is this a replica and he said no and showed me all the paperwork. so i had the plessure of pushing this wonderfull car up the drive into a single garage on the side of a normal 3 bed semi. i had no idea in 10 years of knowing my friend this car was oppoiste!

how much are they worth? i always thought they were in the millions? thats why i was being very careful of the fiberglass lip on the back of the boot, didnt fancy snapping that off! biggrin

If that is real that would have been unbelievable! I am under the impression they are worth around $20-25 million but I might be wrong.

fiberglass on a 250 GTO??

They didnt build many, and all are known so I would be surprised if one existed in a surburban area. These sorts of cars are stolen to order and would never be seen again, I'm afraid to say.

I think you are right there! The closest I have got is probably a 250 GT SWB, worth maybe [a pitiful] £2mill wink

I don't claim to be the world authority on 250 GTOs but I've seen a few and I don't remember any of them actually wearing a GTO badge.

I'd say you woz 'ad.

A real 250 GTO is worth upwards of £15-20,000,000 and doesnt have any grp bodywork hehe at a guess, I'd say that you were pushing a beat up datsun 240z with a body kit as even the Ferrari based replicas are going for £250k+

Chris Evans paid 13m for his GTO - I think the current value is around 20m dollars, if you can find a seller. I doubt a guy with a normal 3 bed semi has a car of that value. It could have been another vintage fezza with quad pipes

CE bought a series 2 car which is cheaper. The $20+ cars are the series 1 cars

This is a rather special one I saw in London

Loads of other 250s, and even 330s got converted to look like GTOs and Californias too. Given you can pick up a 330 for £60k, someone could have rebodied it. Apparently it's not a particularly difficult job.

I have seen a couple of genuine GTOs but this one really stood out from the crowd!
A green 1963 example I saw at the concourse this year. Very nice cloud9

That one was racing at Goodwood this weekend as was the green one above. You have to have a lot of guts to race cars that are so valuable but I am very grateful to the owners for doing so.

There are quite a few replicas out there that are derived from original Ferraris, so the paperwork he might have been showing you was/could have been authentic.

I came across this site a little while back. It makes for a good and interesting read.

All comes down to history Chaz.

A 250 GTO that has a top class race history at the hands of a variety of top drivers will be worth a lot more than one with a poor history.

It would be amazing to own a GTO but even better if your car had won at Le Mans a few times.
