I am looking at either of the above as an investment as well as a weekend driving car. Which is the better choice ?

I think you need to ease off a bit on the disco biscuits!!

rofl

575 maybe, if it's very low mileage and you never use it, though 550 more likely to be a good (read not suicidal) investment.

612? Google for Mondial prices!!

I'd tend to agree. In 2008 a 612 sold for circa £40k - ex P1 car IIRC. There aren't any around at that money now but they sure as hell aren't appreciating.

Maybe one of the last 575M HGTCs might appreciate, but in reality, you will have to fork out a chunk of money for a 550 Barchetta if you want something that is unlikely to DEpreciate.

I hate the Superamerica, but I guess it's only fair enough to point out this 575-based contraption...another low volume product that the disco-biscuit eaters might feel attracted to...

For reference, check out the 456 - pretty car, but on a par with AIG shares in the investment stakes...

When I stop applying man maths cars are generally a poor investment as the cost of running this type of car really spoils the investment.
If my car is typical then add about £3,500 a year for servicing, insurance, tyres with the possibility of a really big bill every so often.

On the car front I suspect that the 612 will continue to drop in price although personally I really fancy one as with 4 seats it is a bit more useful if you have kids.

Have fun

Thanks for all your comments - really like the 550 but 612 is more modern and does have 4 seats
Really surprised they have lost so much value as they got great reviews from fifth gear etc
Looked at the db9 but have always wanted a Ferrari
Maybe I should have a 360 and get a 4dr day car ?

Neither of those would be a very good investment to be honest. For a start neither of them are particularly rare cars (in super car terms). The 612 will continue to drop until around the £30-40k mark in my opinion, the 575 will still depreciate but probably far more slowly.

As already said a 550 Barchetta or 575 SuperAmerica are the only 2 that will probably appreciate.

Hope that helps

Bought my late 07 612 earlier in the year (after it had taken some heavy depreciation). Excellent performance and presence with every day use-ability. Regularly drop my 3 kids off during a very quick school run... Obviously it will continue to lose value but no surprise there. Just enjoying the car... Taccy

Not all 4 seater Ferraris drop in value; not those from the Enzo era at least wink

I had a good nose around a 612 that a father of a child at my son's school owns. A lot of room in it and an epic engine of course.

What stopped me buying a 456 and will probably stop me buying a 612 though is that my garages are full of classics. I need 4 seats and also my everyday cars have to sit outside on the drive and that's what determines what I buy. I'm just not sure I'd want to park a 612 on the drive, nor whether it'd like that very much. I dumped the idea of a 3200GT for that reason too.

Def some nice cars there, although it really does wind me up when 10s after opening the site (this and specialists' sites, I'm not having a particular go) I'm already finding typos/spelling mistakes etc. How difficult can it be to proof read stuff? It really takes the edge off the otherwise professional impression they give you when they haven't mastered use of the apostrophe frown

I also looked at the site , they don't seem to have much stock and the 550 seems to have been there for some time. Is the price too high ?
