As promised before , here are the pictures of my 575, 35k Km, full FDSH, reckon great condition in and out , didnt come with the suitcases which is a shame but i didnt buy it for that i must say. Taking her for a wheel balancing and adjustment tomorrow morning, and mid next week for a good wash , polish etc , these pics taken minutes before/ after i got the car. I havent put on the licence plate in the front yet ..ooopps... i always wanted a red one but there were non for sale in greece !!!!

I am trying to get used to the car, very different driving position that the 996 and the gearbox is clunky ( i hope i am using the right word) comparing to the E46 SMG II box , feels quicker that the tiptronic . Exhaust is box standard , thats something i might look at in the near future .

Looks lovely, I wouldn't bother with the front plate, they look much better without!

... I soon will be posting some more pictures as i wil be having the car polished and biologically cleaned and leather /plastic / fabric treatment by a specialist in Greece who is using Meguiars ..

About the becker stereo , i think it will be an improvement ove rthe box standard i have the colour display and navi function to say the least will add a bit i think to the car and i do need the navi function. if anyone can suggest a better option for stereo that goes well with interior i am all eyars though i am very keen on the becker as its standard equipment in F cars ...

Congrats, own a 550 myself and it has until 2 weeks ago been bullet proof in 20k miles.

These cars get better and better as you drive them more. The concept of Maranellos takes a while to really sink in. Personally I would never own a Maranello with a F1 shift, but this is down to personal choice and it's still an epic car in every respect.

Enjoy her in good health and be aware of the rudimentary ASR. Yours is better than the 550's but in wet weather it's still very easy to lose the car if you're a bit hamfisted.

Thanks for the info Onno. I had driven some 550s when i was in the UK and my love for that car made me look into the 575 and 550s but there are so few here , well i was lucky to find a 575 lets put it this way . The F1 gearbox it will take some time to get used to . I also ride a 996 Carrera Tiptronic which i am really used to with gear chnages etc etc , i also had two SMG M3s previously ( E36 and E46) and i suppose i have had a good 10+ years experience of F1 gearboxes etc . BUT the 575 is quite different all together, dare i say a bit clunky .... It will take some time to get used to .

I havent driven the car in the wet yet ....

watch out for when the clutch starts to slip and it dumps you into neutral when changing hard through the gears. happened to me a few times.

A bit clunky, well yes it is. The F1 gearbox did improve a lot but it has always been a bit clunky and in the Scuderia it is quite brutal when shifting under acceleration. One thing to remember is that they are automated manuals and so it is a manual gearbox but without the human brain. You know how sometimes you re-engage the clutch when a gear doesn't quite want to synchronise? Well a computer can't do that, so the F1 boxes tend to force more maintenance than manuals. I know of 599's with a full gearbox rebuild after 20,000 miles. I am not saying this to criticise your car, but I think as an owner it's good to be aware of potential weak areas.

I can understand your choices are a bit limited in Greece, and I'm sure you'll be very happy with your 575. Just make sure that your mechanic has a good look at the gearbox at regular intervals.

The 550/575 section of Ferrarichat.com has a wealth of information. I'm active there too, although less now that I've got other Ferraris as well. Forum member TAZANDJAN (name is Terry, USA) is the guy you want to talk to if you have questions, he has a 575 F1 and an amazing breadth of knowledge (I think he memorises partnumbers.. smile) There is a "Greek members thread" in the Europe section. Perhaps you can make some owner friends there, I've found that sharing these cars with other owners is one of the best things about them. I've driven many other Ferraris now, thanks to like-minded people, and it makes the experience so much better: puts your car into perspective, and you also find your tastes develop so the next one might be taking you into other interesting directions.

FerrariLife.com is great for meeting fellow owners in Europe. The core is a really friendly bunch, and I've made some real friends there. They also have great buying guides you can download for free, as well as the FerrariLife Quarterly magazine. I've written some articles for them, also on live with the 550.

See you on the other side!
