A Murcielago you might now want to buy..
Discussion
I was sent a link of a bunch of clowns jumping and dancing (literally) on a Murcielago Roadster. The once famous Tom Green was in the thick of things (using the intake wing to step up onto the engine cover no less).
Recognised the car and thought the owners might be interested in viewing. Needless to say there were more than a few expletives in the return email.
For all the passion, vision, design and engineering, not to mention the man hours to create this car, to have it end up as a rental car for people with no idea is a more than a little sad.

Why would you climb on top of any car? I would never do that to someone else's car let alone someone else's Lamborghini!
Look at this video of two young Pakistani guys who rented and subsequently crashed a LP640. Shocking! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1pleZbxN_o

Bam Margera, a skateboarder on jackass, owns a viola Murcie. Can't view the video so don't know if it's that one...
He owns a viola Gallardo, and he cut a hole in the roof with an angle grinder to install a sunroof.... moron! The majority of exotic rental cars in Miami have custom rims. It's a showboat town and standard wheels aren't preferred I'd say 80% of the time. The more established companies stock a few sets rims for each car as well as the standard wheels to cater for their clients varying tastes.
There was a red Bentley GT with red rims at a place I used to have a small % of. The more reserved clients who kept the car for over a week usually took the standard wheels or the black set we stocked. The Lambos and Ferrari's usually went out with custom wheels which were changed as frequently as the cars as some clients weren't keen on coughing up thousands of quid to drive up and down the beach at 5mph in a known rental super car
The clients in for a wild weekend together with the sport and entertainment guys etc usually went with the attention grabbing wheel option. Naturally the cars get murdered so if you happen to be buying an exotic motor in South Florida, a THOROUGH history check is CRUCIAL as to most (not all) people there cars are simply objects and are not treasured the way they are back home.
It's very easy to have a nightmare, ESPECIALLY in Miami, with ill-repaired/maintained cars falling apart and you being given an invoice for something difficult to disprove.
If you are over in the U.S this place is one of the better companies in Miami. For NY these are the guys to talk to.

Am I missing something with the cars in your first link? The red Gallardo Spyder is $2,500/day and 513bhp (about right) yet the orangey GS is $1,450/day and 483bhp, why the power & price difference, i note ones manual but I didnt think that made a difference? Strange that a gallardo spyder is the same cost as an LP640 roadster & $1k a day more than a LP560 tin top? There was a red Bentley GT with red rims at a place I used to have a small % of. Looks like a typo there. The spiders usually go out for a tiny bit more as a convertible in Miami for the weekend is great, but there really is no set price to speak of. They have a bottom number and they will charge anything from that to their published rate. If you lease the cars for a few days a Gallardo Spyder can be had for sub $900 without too much fuss.
The main companies change their stock so frequently that the car shots on their website are almost always out of date. Not to mention their cars get wrecked far more frequently that perhaps anywhere else. Some of the crash and theft stories out of Miami are barely believable.
- 5 day old LP640 written off while doing standing starts to 130mph on Collins Ave on a Friday night.
- A chap changed rims on a Bentley GT before trying to sell the car out of state with no documents.
- A client that refused to pay for a broken window on a GT3 dropped the car off and made a tyre squealing getaway in another Porsche.. only in Miami.
The rental business in Miami is more word of mouth and the Miami way is to stick the Murcielago outside of a shop on South Beach with a "RENT ME" sign on the dashboard. Crude, but it seems to work well enough. Also, with Miami's #1 imported product yielding so much cash, a lot of this undeclared income goes into this luxury/super car rental market so they never really need to be as media savvy as Gotham Dream Cars based in NY.
A mate from London has just started a new venture over there catering to the classics. His selection, and the cars he will add to the fleet, should steer him clear of the abusers that can't drive a manual and trash the Lambos/Ferrari's.
Great business when things run smoothly. Nightmare when they don't.
